I Kinda Lost This Beautiful Jens Quistgaard / Dansk Lidded Pot For A Little Minute. Found It At Red Racks Thrift And Then It Just Disappeared. Status: Lost / Found / Tagged / Available.

I hesitated to tag this up and take it over to Creve Coeur today as these Dansk / Quistgaard pieces don't show up in the thrift stores all that often. Maybe I should be keeping some of them!

Just what Mr. M needs...another collection.  No fear...I did, in fact, place a tag on it and take

it down to booth 307 at The Antique Mall of Creve Coeur today. And actually, I took a

number of choice items down there today...including the yellow phone and that sweet

cheese cutting board I picked up at the Gypsy Caravan recently.

This isn't the only Dansk / Quistgaard cookware I've got available. I have a couple of older

pieces in bright yellow in my booth at The Green Shag too. I had a pretty blue one there for

a short while, it also made in France, but it got snapped up. I kinda like the idea of these

being made in France. Scandinavians know a thing or two about design...and while the

French might not be well known for manufacturing (when was the last time you saw a

Citroen on the highway?), they certainly know their way around a kitchen and some

cookware...and wine, can't forget the Vino!

(Just as an aside: You can help Mr. M out by clicking on any of the [very few!] ads you see here. Won't cost you a cent...but it'll make publishing this daily a little easier on me!)

  1. After a 20-yr hiatus, new Kobenstyle pieces in red, yellow, and white are now available, exclusively at Crate & Barrel; they seem to be made in Thailand. So in the future it may be like old and new Fiesta in the thrifts. BTW, Peugeot-Citroen and Renault are number two and three in sales in the EU; collectively the French are equal to the overwhelming number one, Volkswagen group (VW, Seat, Skoda, Audi, Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini). Ford, GM, Fiat, Mercedes, BMW, and the Japanese and Chinese have the other half.

  2. Kobenstyle was, of course, originally manufactured in Denmark. The pieces marked Made in Denmark came in four colors and are usually priced higher than the pieces made in France. Not sure why you're ragging on French manufacturing based on your own misperceptions. Two of the very best brands of cast iron enamel cookware-- Le Creuset and Staub-- have been manufactured with pride in France for decades.
