In the strictest definition andirons are used to hold firewood up off the hearth floor and to prevent the logs from escaping out of the front of the fireplace upon shifting during burning.  While yes, this pair of Donald Deskey designed andirons could do all of that, their purpose is much more in the vein of aesthetics.

You might remember this sofa from a post I did a couple of years ago.  It looked a little different.  It's cushions weren't very pretty and I had them disguised rather cleverly with a heavy cheetah print sheet that acted as a slip cover.  But it just was never gonna be a permanent solution.

You Might Remember A Broyhill Saga Desk That I Picked Up A While Back That Needed Some Love And Had The Wrong Handles. This Morning It Got That Love...And It Got The Proper Handles! Status: As Close To A Hug A Desk Is Gonna Get.

When I got this little guy I didn't really expect to actually find original replacement handles and thought at best I'd find some that just looked a little more appropriate than the brass units I found on it.  Well, serendipity had other ideas.

I spent Sunday in it's entirety perusing, buying, transporting, cleaning up, photographing and storing this rather stunning King Size Dillingham bedroom suite.  It was another seriously hot day here in St. Louis too.  I got done just after dark and looked around to realize, this is all I've done all day!
