I had no idea that such an item even existed. Who needs what looks like a chest of drawers...for their SHOES?! Well, I certainly don't...but now that I know that there is such a thing, well...of course! I can see why this would be a desirable item.
Some of this lot came from the thrift store while the rest was found at an estate sale last weekend. To keep those shelves full you gotta keep a-hustlin' and Mr. M finds nothing more fun than hustlin' up some smalls!
Mr. M dragged his tired bones up out of bed Friday morning after only a couple short hours of sleep to attend an estate sale chock full of fantastic vintage Danish modern pieces. I harbored a tiny bit of hope that I'd skip through the house nabbing tag after ridiculously under priced tag off lovely Scandinavian pieces...but it just wasn't meant to be.
I seem to have a weakness for Michael Lax as well as Dorothy Thorpe lately. Or maybe it's just shiny stuff, I don't know. These are just a couple of the smalls I've gathered over the last couple days.
There was so much more Drexel to be had at that sale but I just didn't take enough dough with me to snatch it all. I had to leave behind a lovely Declaration dining table and I think either 4 or 6 chairs. There was also a buffet and china cabinet, but they had some unusual hardware on them and I wasn't really sure that they too were Declaration.
Yes Siree! I've currently got plenty of fantastic Drexel Declaration looking for a new home in Booth 5 Green Shag Market. It's nice that these pieces were in such amazingly good shape that all I had to do was knock off the dust, shoot some pics and deliver them to The Shag!
I didn't have time thoroughly clean this up before shooting the pics, but I didn't know when I'd have time to finish the job so I went ahead and did the deed. Believe me, it looks A LOT better now than it did before I cleaned what I did!
The joint was loaded with Drexel Declaration and after arriving a mere 10 minutes before opening and receiving the much coveted #62 line ticket I found that everything I might have wanted (less the Declaration coffee table / bench) was still available to be had. What the WHAT?!
They're the same...but different. Both are Kromex but check out the platters. Kinda funky, that. Anyway, the one in back is sticking around the house, but the one up front is headed out to the booth.
You know what this means...Yup! It's grillin' time! If you're a serious griller ya gotta have the serious tools and if you're reading this blog, you probably want those tools to be as stylish as you are. This is that set.
I've got a matching snack bowl in this atomic pattern around here somewhere...pretty sure, and I can't seem to find a blog post on it either...and I'm sure I've done one. That's kind of frustrating since I'd love to leave you a link to said post. Grrrr.
We've had this pair of Campaign / Sling chairs for ages. They were probably purchases the first year the Girlfriend and I discovered estate sales. We found them at a condo sale and the Girlfriend just had to have 'em!
Yeah, it was quite a day. I only got a few hours sleep after work and before jumping up outa bed to get a line number for the first estate sale, then rush over to another sale a few miles away to get a line number for that one too!
Sadly, no tags. Probably not Knoll since the seller...well, said they weren't. Still, they got style for miles and they'll go nicely with the chrome base table I featured a few days ago. I've still got to fix up the top of that table though, so it'll be a while.
It's so nice to have the previously filled living spaces back, even though I can no longer navigate any part of the Garage (heaven forbid a breaker blows!) or the spare bedroom. The bonus is that I can more easily set up to take photos in the foyer again!
Like I said yesterday, I've been working like a mad man clearing out the living spaces here at the Modtomic Ranch. I just managed to get about 95% done this morning before heading off to work. Alas, I had little time to actually clean and de-clutter before the Girlfriend's big All Girl Party.
Right now I'm feeling both pretty good about having lots of extra stock for the booth (a dry spell would be boring but I could easily shrug it off) and somewhat nervous about what to do with all this stuff! I'm hoping to hear from The Big Bend Antique Market this coming November about renting a couple booth spaces so as to have another venue to shift goods.
Well, this is actually Better than what I was presented with when I fount this set in the basement of the second estate sale Saturday morning. The glass was covered in years of dust and there was some old old Old newsprint stuffed in there ostensibly for padding.
This "Rocket Lamp" came home with us from one of our many vacations through the Smokey Mountains. But it was rough...and had no shade. It got cleaned up quite a while back, but a proper shade has eluded me...until today!
I really had no hope of finding anything worth having still available at this East Side sale since we arrived at about noon. Alas, everything that I would have wanted to take home with me WAS still available...but at a price.
