What A Pleasant Weekend (For The Most Part...There Was Some Rain) For The Flea Markets! We Managed To Hit TWO Last Sunday. There Is A New One In Town: The St. Louis Swap Meet. Status: Meh...So Far.

20150519_124402_HDR

It's not much loot, but (sadly) it's better than what I found up North at the Olmsted County Gold Rush Antique Market And Flea!  But this all came from 2 fleas here at home.  The Wentzville and the new St. Louis Swap Meet.

Work Vs. Reward. Sometimes You Hit Several Thrift Stores And Come Up Empty Handed. Then You Find That ONE Thing At Your Last Stop! And Sometimes That One Thing Makes It All Worth The Effort. Status: NIB

20140123_123355

I had taken a trip to South County visiting Tandy Leather and the South County Antique Mall, picking up some beautiful suede from Tandy but otherwise not much...so I headed for the southern thrifts that I rarely hit.  After visiting two others I found this NIB Dansk salad bowl set at the Goodwill for a song.  Score!

Koben Style Flea Snatchings! I Grabbed Up A Pair Of Yellow Dansk IHQ Lidded Koben Style Pots While At The Belleville Flea Last Saturday To Keep My Recently Found Blue One Company. Status: Well Loved.

DSCN0080

I didn't reap too much from the bounty that is the Belleville Antique Flea Market last Saturday, but I do feel lucky to have found this pair of Yellow Dansk cooking pots.  Funny, I have so rarely found any Dansk cookware and then just in the last few days...Poof!  Three!

So Yeah, The Wentzville Sunday Flea Wasn't Exactly A Bust...But We've Been On Better Days. The St. Charles Antique Mall Turned Out To Be At Least As Good A Bet. Status: Dansk Day!

DSCN9973

After finding the candelabra and the blue lidded pot I thought out loud how cool it would be to find THREE Dansk items in one day.  Then I spotted the cheese board with integral knife!  What a great day!

More Pics From The Randolph Street Market In Chicago. And Believe Me...This Isn't Even The HALF Of It! Oddly Enough Though, The Flea Isn't What I'd Call Huge...Or Even That Big. Status: Well Curated!

20130824_111218

THIS is what happens when a flea can pick and choose who sets up.  Instead of wildly random vendors, you can see a focus develop.  It's not so narrow as to end up with just 25 buyers walking around either.  My guess, it takes a delicate touch and a spine of steel.  Don't know if I'd want that job!

Yesterday I Had To Work All Day So Today We Spent The Whole Day Today Scavenging At The Flea Market (With Nick And Girlfriend) And Out At A Couple Of Antique Malls In Columbia Mo. Status: Wild Goose Chase.

DSCN9848

None of the above came from the flea market this morning. This lot is the consolation prize for driving out to Columbia Mo. in search of a Drexel Declaration china cabinet at Artichoke Annie's antique mall. A friend had seen it there a few weeks ago and mentioned that I might want to check it out so today I called ahead to make sure it was still available and after receiving confirmation we set off westward.

I'd Been Eye-Ballin' This Quistgaard Cheese And Cracker Board For Ages At The Green Shag. Half Off Sale? SOLD!!! Bonus: Dropped Off A BRNO Chair And Some Smalls There Yesterday Too. Status: Win / Win.

DSCN3339

I stopped by the shop in St. Charles and The Green Shag Market yesterday to drop one of the Mies Van Der Rohe BRNO chairs in each and while at The Shag I of course had to snoop around.  There had been a Dansk cheese board there for ever that I had been pining over since it came in.  The vendor had JUST put up a Half Off sign and I pounced!

This Morning We Got Up Stupid Early To Attend The "Cornbread - Worlds Biggest Garage Sale". We Managed To Find A Couple Good Items, But For The Most Part...It Was A Bust. Status: Still...Some Real Treasures!.

DSCN3164

This was our reward for dragging our tired butts up out of bed at 7:20am.  It don't look like much...but alas, some of these smalls are pretty good scores!  We didn't even know when we were buying them!  Can you guess which is the best find?

While Out Checking The Traps Yesterday I Managed To Snap Up Some Pretty Good Pieces. Plus It Was A Pretty Gorgeous Day For Driving 'Round. Status: Maybe A Big Score.

DSCN3128

I know...more art glass.  But at least I can be assured that this one is hand made.  It has the "scar" on the bottom where it was broken loose after final shaping.  That, it was cheap and it's a really beautiful shape...how could I resist?  Plus I picked up a cool set of Quistgaard style candle holders and some beautiful watercolors by a local / yet widely known artist!

Season To Taste? Bring It On! My Friends Dansk And Quistgaard Gots My Back. But From Where Did This Emerge? Funny Story, That. Status: Freshly Cleaned And Oiled.

DSCN2885

Lovely sculpted Teak don'cha think?  Oh, and let's not forget to mention the amazing graining.  But this heavy chunk o' wood ain't just art.  It's fer usin'!  Yep, whether it's grilling the hotdogs out back or boiling some Ramen noodles, you gotta have yourself proper seasoning tools. A Dansk salt and pepper grinder designed by Jens Quistgaard?  That'll do!

Finding Amazing Vintage Modern Style At The Thrift Stores Like This Jens Quistgaard Dansk Cheese Board Never Ceases To Amaze Me! Status: Soon To Be Available.

DSCN2774

I've read on other bloggers blogs that one should bathe these teak cutting boards in mineral oil...or maybe it's baby oil.  Is there a difference?  Does this sound right?  I certainly don't think soaking it in teak oil would be a good idea, but it could use a little somethin' somethin'.

I Know...I Said I'd Feature The Thrift Table From Yesterday's Thrift Haul, But It Seemed A Little Silly To Show That Two Days In A Row. So Here's Some Mod Candle Holders To "Hold" You Over! Status: Available!

DSCN2089

This trio of wall mount candle sconces were found at the same thrift but the matched set pair were found a week before the middle starburst single!  How weird is that?  At first I was a little irate that I could only find the single starburst but when I got home and remembered the matched pair and realized how great it would go with them, my OCD issue was solved.  I also found some cool cast iron pieces.  Click through to check 'em out!

Still Out Scooping Up Smalls For Booth 44 AND The Green Shag Parking Lot Sale Coming Up This Weekend. Every Body Coming Down To Say Howdy? There Will Be Plenty Good Stuffs To Be Had! Status: Got 'Em Bagged, Getting 'Em Tagged.

DSCN1915

A bit scary that, don't ya think?  Kinda looks like one of those daft seemingly drug addled children's morning programming props...or characters even.  But no.  It's nothing like that at all!  In fact, your Nanna might just have one full of candy proudly displayed in her home just this minute.

People Keep Trying To Clean Out My Booth! I Have To Keep Going Back With More! Status: Restock!

DSCN1545

I got a text from the fine folks at the Green Shag Market yesterday that the pair of Glass and Chrome Side / End Tables had found new digs.  Crap...I had lots of stuff displayed on those!  I really liked them in the booth too!  They were perfect for displaying there since they were glass and light passed through.  Oh well, I had to get something else in there.

Didn't Bring Much Home But It Weren't For Lack Of Opportunity! Belleville Flea Market Weekend Tour. Status: Still Open Sunday!

DSCN1449

Dansk Kobenstyle...and lots of it!  It was priced a little out of my comfort zone but damn, ain't it sexy?  And who'd have guessed this would turn up at the Belleville Flea?  I love the crazy randomness of  what can be found here!

Green Shag. What Image Does That Conjure Up? Take A Stroll Through The Green Shag Market And That Image Will Be A Smile In The Mirror! Status: New Venue In Town.

DSCN5755

Everybody ready for another Shop Tour? It's not really a shop as much as an antique mall, but it's a good one. It's one that seems to try and cater to the vintage modern collector. Bully for us!!!

Stopped By A New Little Shop Today Down On The South Side. Didn't Go To Shop But Ended Up With This Anyway! Status: "CatStump"

DSCN5349

There's a lot going in the Lou' these days.  It's kinda weird.  Because of the unseasonably warm weather it feels like spring!  Perfect days to check out one of the many new shops and places to pick up vintage modern goods that are springing up lately.
