I can't really decide if I want to keep this lot or offer it up in the booth(s). The "Magazine" rack fits right in with our living room / cocktail area (if we could use it - it's a mess right now) and the Wire Sculpture has me intrigued.
I didn't realize how many of these vintage modern magazine racks I've managed to procure as of late. Show here are just three of the maybe 8 or 10 total we have around the house. Many are actually in use, so it's not that embarrassing. I think though, it may be time to cull the herd.
I'll admit it, I've got a weakness for decorator "How To" books. I'll probably never see a book that deals exclusively with Vintage Modern, but that's OK...I like how many of these books weave Vintage Modern pieces in with traditional and antique styles. Oh, yeah...and that magazine rack. Pretty cool, huh!
I spotted this cool looking fiber art piece rolled up and tucked away in the back of Booth 40 - Creve Coeur Antique Mall. My curiosity got the best of me so I went ahead and opened it up to see what it was. Nice! Not over the top as some of these '70s creations can be.
Wow, what a weekend. I took a couple extra days of (Thursday and Friday) to make it a nice little five day mini-vacation. Of course I'm gonna scour the thrifts the whole time and as per usual, very little turned up. Seems like when I have the time to really make the rounds there's just not much to be had.
Dansk Kobenstyle...and lots of it! It was priced a little out of my comfort zone but damn, ain't it sexy? And who'd have guessed this would turn up at the Belleville Flea? I love the crazy randomness of what can be found here!
More thrift harvest for the big Parking Lot Sale coming up soon! Stopped by the Goodwill downtown and picked up this orphaned Slavic Modern walnut magazine rack. It needed some Modtomic love and that's just what it got.
I'm not usually into brass fireplace stuff but this is pretty cool. I passed on one just like it at another antique mall about a month or so ago because it was all scratched up but this one is in nearly perfect condition...or at least for a used item.
This magazine bin / lamp / table was one of the items that drew me all the way down the street to the auction Friday morning. There was also a nice generic dining set that was pretty cool but I didn't feel like toasting the last of my dough on it since there were a few other items I had my keen little eye on.
Remember a few weeks ago when I brought home a set of Basset cabinets? I found those because Illuminate had texted me about a Mod garage sale that she hit after the Big Brasilia estate sale. Well, I picked this little magazine / firewood rack at that garage sale.
I absolutely LOVE this shop! I have to stop in at least once every time I make it to New Orleans. They have the coolest stuff you'll ever find. I wish I could take it all home with me...but then the whole house would look like the Garage!!!
I found the "Modern Retro" book at the thrift store just down the street for just $1.91 + tax! Score! The vintage home magazines were picked up at the flea mkt. over the weekend, 6 for $5.00.
So much good stuff. So little place to put it all. I feel like the Mod-man shows incredible restraint in not bringing all the beautiful treasures home.
