Posting (somewhat) DAILY from the fair city of St. Louis Mo! Keep up by subscribing! See the madness evolve before your very eyes! (Click The Pic Above To Go To The Main Page!)
I'm not sure if there a just a number of new vendors or if the current crew are changing their tune, but the stock of what WE like to find seemed kinda thin at Treasure Aisle this visit. I'm hoping it's not a trend.
Yup, I like seeing those "Sold" tags on stuff. I came in this weekend to find FOUR of 'em on some sizable pieces. You guys know how to put a big ol' grin on a Mister's mug! Some of these items had JUST been dropped off!
Yup! Mr. Modtomic finally splurged on some nice brass and glass shelves to better display all the wonderful smalls (and apparently mediums!) that I've got down at The Shag.
This Roxhall "8 Day" key wound clock was another late evening craigslist snatching. It was down in South County (which is exactly Opposite where I live!) so I was lucky that the seller was amenable to meeting me after work saving me an extra trip to the other side of "town"!
I guess I've nobody to blame but myself. I have to say, I haven't been out to ANY of the vintage modern shop around town lately...and so why would any of these merchants bother to let me in on news as big as the moving of their store front...much less the opening of their Second Storefront!
And then I had to clean these and set them all up today out under that oppressive solar beatdown we call the afternoon sun. Ugh, more heat and sweat. And then, guess what...I had to break them back down and and load TWO of these back into Frank (the Focus Wagon) and tool them down to The Green Shag Market...
We were hoping to keep enough time open on our little roadtrip vacation to get a chance to meet Dana of Mid2Mod.blogspot.com and her Son-In-Law who operates the shop Mid2Mod. It was an easy drive from Canton and, well...three days of walking around all day reeks havoc on a body, so having a few hours of lively conversation was a welcome change!
I spotted this table still loaded up on a trailer last evening just as we were leaving. I was hoping to get to the sale early enough this morning that I'd be able to grab it up before anybody else noticed it. Well...things didn't work out quite like that, but they DID work out!
I felt bad only putting up five items last time, so this time I dropped in an extra. Philly really has some good stuff. I bet a lot of get overlooked by the hunters like me too!
Yeah, Christmas is coming up fast. Luckily there are places like this! Just look at all that lovely opportunity to get your loved one the Best Present Ever! This is An Orange Moon in Chicago Il. I've been wanting to visit this Lynne's shop for years but only just made it this last trip during Thanksgiving. It was worth the wait!
Another river city like St. Louis Mo, Cincinnati Oh. was screwed by Chicago and the railroad barons of the time and had it's growth stunted. Still, like the StL, it continues to thrive and well...has a great craigslist vein just waiting to be mined! Click through and let's dig in!
I actually picked up this George Nelson "Ball Clock" reproduction (by Verichron) early last week when I took some time off work and made a quick stop at one of the two awesome antique malls on Big Bend rd. Both often feature great Vintage Modern finds but I only had a couple of minutes to kill so I made a quick run through Treasure Aisle. Lucky me, I found this clock at a reasonable price.
Gus, down at Vandeventer Vintage, is having a NO RESERVE (!) auction of nearly 100 vintage modern items at his shop located in mid-town. This could be a golden opportunity to plunder his well curated stock of furniture, art and lighting.
Mmmm...isn't this a tasty piece of vintage modern lounge chair beautificence? By far this was my favorite piece to photograph as well as lust after down at Momoderne, one of the newest venues for us to drop some dosh on fabulous house bling here in St. Louis. I just couldn't find a bad angle to shoot this from! The only problem was getting a couple shots off before it got snatched up and taken home...things were moving fast at this inaugural sale.
Things are coming together for our annual Nightmare party. I found the decorations out in the Garage last night. The tree will go up soon and Jack and Sally are showing up in more pictures lately. Yup, it's almost time.
