OK, So I've Been Absent. Two Things, Well Three...Maybe Four. Winter, Vacation, Craigslist, Car. But Looky, I Popped On A Danish Style Sofa / Daybed And It's Already At The Shag! Status: Already Gone.
Man, I hate me some winter. The cold just sucks the life outa' me. Last winter wasn't bad and it hasn't been too bad this year, until January. This is why Mom-tomic moved to New Orleans.

What The What? Two Livingroom Sets In Two Days? Yeah! Although THIS Set Is A Little More In Keeping With What Ya Might Expect 'Round Here. It's Got That Adrian Pearsall Look, But It's Not Craft Associates. Still, Good Lookin' Set, Right? Status: Available!

Funny story: before making my way downtown to pick up the Ikea set I featured yesterday I stopped by a Friday morning estate sale that happened to have a Pearsall sofa and couple of chairs. I didn't go out early or anything and consequently the set had already sold. I wake up Saturday morning, check craigslist and find This set! What are the chances?

Yeah, I Know...They're Not Vintage, But They Are Out Of Production Ikea Lillberg. Ikea? Again, I Know...But We Takes Whats We Can Gets, And I Gotta Admit That It's A Great Looking Set! Status: Available.

This fine accumulation of Ikea living room furniture has recently made it's way to my booth at The Antique Mall of Creve Coeur. Can you believe I was able to fit all of this into the back of Frank? Of course I didn't go crazy and try to close the hatch...but I might have been able too.

Mr. M Loves Some Eye-Talian Chrome And This Little Two Seat Sofa Really Delivers. Picked This Up This Morning And It Was So Clean I Was Able To Drop It Straight Into My Booth At The Green Shag Market. Status: Available!

I don't know if this piece has any particular designer name attached to it (I couldn't find any while at work today) but I think it may be manufactured by the same company that made my LC3s that I still have. Anybody ever seen this style before?

I Didn't Bring This Small Vladimir Kagan Microfiber Sofa Home From The Goodwill Saturday, But Obviously I Thought Long And Hard About It. Did I Make A Mistake By Leaving It Behind? Status: Hot Or Not?

I can't seem to find an exact match for this Kagan New York Collection small sofa or sectional part on the web so I can't really figure out if it's worth messing with or not. Anybody out there in readership land have any idea whether this was worth picking up or was leaving it there a better idea?

Last Night We Decided To Try The Dinner Menu At Rooster On Grand. Since We Were Mere Footsteps From Rocket Century, A Visit With Proprietor Kristina Seemed Like A Good Idea. Shot A Little Video While Hanging Out. Status: Perused.

Never had a chance to hang out at Rocket Century and groan and sigh over all the pretty things you'd totally want to haul home? Well, here's an opportunity to see what you've been missing. I'm still on the upward stroke of the video learning curve, but I think this is my best one yet.

Ugh, Another Project. This Was (Just Barely!) Found In The Basement Of The House Cleanout Where I Acquired The Baughman Armchairs Et Al. Sadly, No Cushions Were To Be Found...Hence "Project". Status: Waiting.

A couple years ago I picked up a pair of Danish style daybeds like this off the Columbia Mo. craigslist. The eventually found their way to another local (sometime) blogger who has since move way far away off to to Phoenix Az. Man, those daybed sofas really got around!

Not Much Happening Around Casa Modtomic...So I'll Just Have To Bore You With Another Look Around Another City's Craigslist. This Time Fayetteville Arkansas. Status: Not My Turf!

I noticed yesterday that fantastic designer Emily Henderson had posted her version of a Masdison craigslist scavenger too! In the comments Laura asked if Emily might sift through Fayetteville Arkansas' craigslist and since I didn't have anything else to blog about...Oh, and there don't seem to be any "Greetings From" postcards out there on Flickr.

Danish Style Daybeds Are Always A Good Score. Finding One That Doesn't Creak When You Plop Down On It...Well That's Just Icing On The Proverbial Cake. The Trade Off? It's Contemporary, Not Vintage. Status: Available.

Who knew that anyone still made this type of stylish simple daybed? Moreover, who thought it'd have a steel frame that will be solid for about a hundred years. Being contemporary, the cushions are of modern materials that will also last a long time but the backrests aren't quite as structured as you'd find on a vintage piece.

I Kinda Wish I Had A Poster Size Print Of This Photo To Hang Behind Our Bar At Home. It Pretty Much Says It All, Doesn't It? "Joe's Welcome Wagon", Nice! Status: Not My Booth.

Only issue with Joe's setup is, well...a janitorial trolly? Really Joe? That's the best you could come up with? You've got all that great liqueur there and gussy up your self, but the cart? Neah, let that be.

This Is The Second IKEA Sater Sofa That I've Been Able To Offer Up To You Fine Folks. Yeah Yeah, I Know. I'm Not A Big Fan Of IKEA, But (Appearently!) I Do Like These Leather Sofas. Am I A Hypocrite? Probably. ::Shrug:: Status: Already Gone.

We had planned to get out to the Wentzville flea market at about 8am Sunday morning, but a couple of things conspired against us. One, well...we got up late. Two, this IKEA Sater sofa suddenly became available to me at about 8am and it was located in the opposite direction of Wentzville. Hustla's gotta do what a hustla's gotta do!

Today I Had To Make A Trip To South County To Drop Off Some Items At MoModerne And Since I Was There I Thought I'd Shoot A Little Tour Of The Shop Since They've Expanded. Status: Doubled Up.

Yup! SHOP. Is it a description...or a suggestion? Dunno. If you're in the mood though, this is a great place TO shop. It'll make your little heart go pitter patter. And if you SHOP wisely, you can even walk out the door with a bargain!

No No...It's Not Vintage, But This Gus Modern "Jane" Sofa And Chair Set Do, In Fact, Sport The Vintage Modern Aesthetic That We All Admire And (Dare I Say?)...Lust For. Status: @ The Shag!

You might recognize Gus Modern from Dana's blog and shop: Mid2Mod. I've only ever found (and sadly didn't jump on quickly enough...no really, I dragged my d@mn feet on those) one other set of of Gus Modern chairs on my local C-list. There just isn't a large Gus Modern population here in the Mid-west I guess. But, I gots a beautiful set to offer now!

While Loading Up Another Estate Sale Attendee Asked "What Makes It So Valuable?" Good Question. I Would Have Liked ToThrow Around The Manufacturer's Name, France And Sons...Or Perhaps The Designer, Grete Jalk. The Truth Is...The Answer Is Simply Supply And Demand. Status: Rare Indeed.

Mr. M dragged his tired bones up out of bed Friday morning after only a couple short hours of sleep to attend an estate sale chock full of fantastic vintage Danish modern pieces. I harbored a tiny bit of hope that I'd skip through the house nabbing tag after ridiculously under priced tag off lovely Scandinavian pieces...but it just wasn't meant to be.

Oh How I Hate Waiting. Just Ask The Girlfriend. Restaurant With A Wait List? C-Ya. Line At The Grocery Store...Hmmph. Mostly It's This Instant Gratification World, But Sometimes It's Just Apprehension. A "Will It Be There When I Have Time To Pick It Up?" Kinda Worry. Status: No Worries...This Time!

This Fabulous Knoll Bastiano sofa and love seat were made available at about midnight the evening before last. I shot off a note to the seller a couple hours after it was posted with little hope of actually scoring the set, but then...the next morning I got the call.

Finally...Saturday! You'd Think That It Being The Weekend I'd Get To Rest. Nope. While I Didn't Get Up Any Earlier Than Any Other Day, My Day Was Busy Busy Busy And Culminated In A Visit To My Booth At The Antique Mall Of Creve Coeur. Status: Chesty Delivered.

While out running around this early afternoon (about as close as I get to morning) getting some errands done I managed to sneak a quick look through the local Goodwill and found not one, but TWO great sofa size vintage modern paintings. One's even a legendary Van Gaard!

As Promised (On The Twitter), I Got Some Good Pics Of The Chesterfield That I Picked Up During The Week. This One Is SOOOO Close! It's A Nicer Vinyl Than Usual...It Almost Passes For Leather, And It's So Comfy. But Alas, I Still Want Leather So This One Too Is Headed To The Booth. Status: Available.

Whowee! That's a good lookin' Chesty, right?! That Oxblood Red is just the right color for a vintage Chesterfield. Of course, it's vintage so it isn't perfect, but it's in pretty good shape none the less. It was missing a bun foot on the back but I've already got that covered.

You Might Remember This Joint As MoModerne, These Days It's MoModerne's Second Shop - Junk Junkie. This Might Be The Place To Look If You're Looking For Style And Aren't To Concerned With Names. You'll Definitely Keep Your Wallet A Little Fatter And If You Look Often Enough You Might Stumble Upon A Great Bargain. Status: Waiting For You To Stop By.

This afternoon the Girlfriend and I headed back down to the South Side to pick up a big piece for the house. Since we were in the area anyway, and partly because I hadn't been in since they opened under the new moniker...I decided to take a moment to check out Junk Junkie. Wanna take a look inside?

See That? That's What Rosewood Looks Like! ::Sigh:: Ain't It Just Beautiful? It Just Reeks Of Luxury. It's Not Easy To Come By These Days. That's Why It's Expensive And Much Sought After. You Might Still Find Some Down At Rocket Century If You Hurry! Status: Where To Shop.

Rocket Century isn't that new 'round here anymore. They've been around for years and have had the shop open on Grand for quite a while now, but the shop's mode of operation has changed recently and it makes for varied mix of styles and items. If you've not been in the last month, a visit is in order!

Restoration of an Adrian Pearsall Sofa, Part Three…Or... Measure Twice, As You Would Have Others Do Unto…errr…A Cut In Hand Is Worth Two On The… ummm…Never Mind
Oh yeah, "Measure twice, cut once" is the proverb we're looking for, and if there is a rule #1 in upholstery, (No. Really. I don't know if there is a rule #1) this might be it. "Don't talk about upholstery rule #1" is probably a close second. We left off last time with new straps, burlap, foam, and dacron on our seat platform, and now it's time to start laying on fabric.
