I told ya it wouldn't stay nice and pretty. I just HAD to put More Stuff in there! And I'm not done. I've got some more art to put up high on that back wall and some shelves to install on each side of the chrome and glass unit.
Well, maybe not "Heaven" but I'm certainly a much happier camper after finding this lovely Dogbone / Whalebone Hey / Wake dining set Sunday evening. I wasn't really bummed after the Cornbread sale but wasn't overjoyed either and this certainly brightened my day.
I've only been to Washington state once. It was beautiful! We drove through a Giant Sequoia tree! Really, if you've never been to the giant redwood forests...go. Make it your Summer Roadtrip Vacation! Plus, check out the Seattle C-list while you're up there, 'cuz I found some really good stuff just now. Click through and take a look!
With the holidays behind us it looks like lots of folks are purging their cribs of extra, unneeded and recently usurped furnishings. It's a winning situation for everybody! They get the much needed space back and we get the bargains we so lust after! Let us take a stroll through the last weekend's craigslist postings in the Washington DC area.
So when I'm posting here on the ol' blog I've almost always got something playing on Netflix because we don't do cable and I'm up at stupid o'clock and there's nothing on broadcast TV. Not only is Netflix great because you can watch great televion (like Doc Martin, Top Gear and Sherlock...I guess I got a thing for the BBC) and movies (anybody else watch Sleepwalk With Me yet?) but you can back up and freeze frame when you see something (relatively speaking) cool. So what do the two pictures above have in common? Follow me through the break!
It's nice to find something that needs no cleanup, fixing or modification in any way once in a while! These Virco dinette chairs are so nice in as found condition that I'll be able to offer them as of now. Like I said, I'd rather set them up with a really cool table that shows off their "space age-yness" but I just ain't got one at the moment.
Min in Philly requested a scouring of here local craigslist a few days ago HERE and I'm happy to oblige. Hope you find some good stuff in here Min that you can pick up after opening all your presents and cleaning up all the wrapping paper...that is, if you don't gorge yourself silly on Christmas dinner!
Here we go again on another quest for vintage modern bargains in some far flung city that I (at least) will not be harvesting. With an estimated metropolitan area population of nearly a million people, certainly a few will find this little collection helpful. For the rest of us...read it and weep (maybe not "weep" but at least feel the sensation of envy).
So here we go yet again on another tour requested by a reader of a craigslist where in I cannot actually Purchase any of the cool items I stumble across. Torture, it is.
It may be like pulling teeth (San Fransisco) but the results never cease to amaze me. With just an hour or so searching I'm able to come up with what I suspect are some very nice, overlooked gems in each of the metropolitan areas that I've been charged with scouring, and the Milwaukee Wisconsin craigslist has been no different. Craigslist is like thrifting from the comfort of your favorite easy chair! Don't have a favorite easy chair? I bet you could find one on craigslist!
Even the outside of this place is really cool! Check out that art deco marquee! You've got your glass block window behind it and all that yellow glazed tile. I wonder what this building was originally built for? The stairs to the second floor are right inside the door, are beautiful and are meant to be seen - so I'm sure the upstairs was supposed to be frequented by customers, such as it is now.
It's that time again. Time to see what can be found in another city at a bargain price on craigslist. This time it's the San Fransisco area. The Girlfriend and I have been out here twice in the last couple years and I know there's good stuff to be had. I managed to bring home an Overman pod chair and a Dorothy Schindele desk the summer we drove there and back, although they weren't craigslist finds.
I stopped by the Green Shag Market this evening to assess my MY space (Booth 44) but took a little minute to make a pass through the rest of the antique mall too. Booth 14 caught my eye as the shop keep really seems to be stepping up their game. They're definitely bringing the pain these days!
I was going to go down the list of nominations in the order recieved since there weren't any "seconds" to the nominations for episodes of "Not My Turf"...but I got intrigued Grand Rapids Mi. and got sidetracked. I'll try to get around to everybody's nominated city but it might take a while! Thanks for all the suggestions! Now let's see what we can find in northern most major metropolitan city in Michigan.
Wait, what's wrong with this picture? OK, so somebody took some liberties with their refinish of this Broyhill Brasilia dining set...but if you're not a purist, it's not so bad. I actually kinda like it! You'd definitely have a one of a kind set! Look inside for the link.
As you can see, it's right up to the door! Lot's of this is project material that I've just not gotten to yet. I'm hoping to get a few of those done in the next 16 days so as to offer them at the big Modtomic Lot Sale at the Green Shag Market.
This place has some really beautiful vintage home restoration salvaged goods. If you are anywhere near by and are engaged in a restoration or retro-renovation this place should be on your short list. If they ain't got it, it looks like they might be able to find it.
The Girlfriend and I FINALLY got down to Mid-Town and had a chance to peruse Gus' new shop Vandeventer Vintage on...wait for it...Vandeventer Blvd. Keepin' real...and real simple! Won't you join me on a little tour of the new facilities?
Lately I've been getting inquiries via my craigslist ads wondering if I might have this or that. Usually I don't and will try to help them find what they are looking for if I have the time, but sometimes I actually do have what they are looking for and just haven't ever gotten around to shooting pics of it for my ads. This Heywood Wakefield dining set is one of those items.
