Well, After Another Particularly Dry Spell (I Guess I Should Figure Out If It's Some Sort of A Pattern, Right?) Things Are Once Again Flowing. I Picked Up This Fabuous Chrome And Glass Pace Coffee Table After Work Monday Evening. It's Quite Heavy. Status: Available.

Nice gams, eh? When I found this table my first thought was "Karl Springer" but that turned up nothing with a quick search. Then I remembered Pace!  Not a fancy desinger but still a well respected name in the design world.

The Last Of The Halloween In New Orleans Booty. I Couldn't Resist This Pair Of Jerry Johnson Tubular Chrome Barstools That I Found On Craigslist...Even If They Didn't Come With The Original Pads. Status: Project? Available?

Super mod, right?  I love 'em.  If I didn't already have my dream barstools I'd have new cushions made and keep this set.  While yes, they are missing the original cushions, I'm pretty proud that they both have all four end caps on the legs.

Dang, See Those Leaves In The Grass? Yup, Summer Is Over Again And Fall Is Creeping In. So What Else Is Sitting There In The Grass? Why Those Are Peter Opsvik Ergonomic Chairs. Weird, Huh! Status: Already Gone.

Somehow Mr. M lucked into a FOUR day weekend.  Unfortunately that first day (Friday) was cloudy and cool, but at least I found these fantastic teak Balans chairs, all in great condition.  Their very pretty blue upholstery, contrasting against the beautiful teak frames made up for the otherwise dreary day.

I'm Such A Sucker For The Bicycles Of My Youth. I Only Actively Look For Mid Eighties BMX / Freestyle Bikes...But These 20" Schwinn Stingrays Were THE Bikes Of My First Years Of Personal Freedom. Status: Available.

20150807_181924_HDR

It's pretty amazing that a Vintage 1978 kids bike is even still around much less still functional, but (except for a blown rear tire and tube) this one is probably ready for another 37 long years of service!

We Just Got Home From A Weekend Visit To Nashville. We Went For The Big Flea Market And One Of My Good Finds Was This Eames Secretarial Task Chair. These Are Kinda Rare...And This Is My Second! Status: Incomplete.

20150331_113823

It looks pretty good in the pics but the fabric is still pretty dirty and unfortunately it's missing it's vinyl trim that surrounds the seat.  Still, it's super rare and in good shape otherwise.

Did A Little Craigslist Shopping Last Night And Brought Home Lots Of Dining Options. This Paul McCobb - Irwin Collection By Calvin Dining Set Had Sat On C-list For Nearly A Week Before I Noticed It! Luckily, I Was The Buyer Who Was The First To Suss It Out. Status: Gone.

20140918_115138

I recall taking a passing look at this dining set on craigslist Wednesday evening and not thinking much about it but then it passed my eyes again a little later and I noticed the brass bracing under the chairs and table.  I'd seen that before.  Paul McCobb.  Five minutes of research later and I was firing off an email!

I Picked Up Some Seriously Seventies Smalls Over The Weekend: A Misrepresented "Wire Sculpture" And An Awesome Magazine Rack. Alas, That Was About It For The Weekend! Status: Awaiting Further Instructions.

20140908_152227

I can't really decide if I want to keep this lot or offer it up in the booth(s).  The "Magazine" rack fits right in with our living room / cocktail area (if we could use it - it's a mess right now) and the Wire Sculpture has me intrigued.

One Of The Coolest Items I Found Over The (Way Too Hot) Weekend is This Scavenged Metal Art Crucifix. This Mid Century Modern Style Religious Art Just Seems To Find Me! I Ain't Complainin'! Status: Soon To Be Available.

20140728_124829

St. Louis is actually rife with religious modernism. Just take a drive through any of the myriad subdivisions that sprung up during the economic boom of the 50s and 60s.  You're sure to spot some sort of religious modern architecture. Still, finding modernist art with a religious twist...not so easy.

I SO Wish The Upholstery Was In Better Condition! I Picked Up This Chrome Frame Baughman-esque Scoop Lounge Chair Today Via Criagslist And Should Have It Displayed Soon At The Shag. Status: Available.

20140529_175531

I so wish I had the wear-with-all to pull this apart and re-upholster this beauty myself...but I know my limitations.  Not that I think it'd be all that hard, it's just the time that it'd take to...well let's face it, let it sit in the garage half done.

Yup! Been Diggin' In The Garage Again. Pulled Out A Pair Of Fantastic Arkana - Maurice Burke Campaign Chairs This Time For Your Consideration. Got 'Em Tagged And Dragged To The Shag. Status: Available.

20140303_152643

We've had this pair of Campaign / Sling chairs for ages.  They were probably purchases the first year the Girlfriend and I discovered estate sales.  We found them at a condo sale and the Girlfriend just had to have 'em!

Just In Time For Christmas! Something To Utterly Confuse Your Children With...A Phonograph! Hmmm...Some Of You Might Just Be Young Enough To Have Never Blown The Dust Off A 12 Inch LP Yourself. Status: Available.

DSCN0515

C'mon, you know you wanna give your kid this Fisher Price record player and have the most ironically cool gift under the tree this year!  You'd get to be all cool like the guys in High Fidelity and explain to your lucky lucky offspring how these fragile, delicate vinyl discs actually contain the most accurate audio representation of music...and then get the eye roll of the true keepers of the cool.

At First I Was Hesitant To Purchase This Rug Because McDuff The Fluff Can Make Such A Mess Of Such Things, But The Girlfriend Suggested I Could Easily Flip It In The Booth. After Shooting These Pics Though, I Think I'll Be Keeping It...Silly Cat Or Not. Status: Keeper.

DSCN0495

Love that cat to death, but boy can he make a mess. That fat boy yacks on everything. Well, everything at floor level. At least he ain't yacking on the furniture...yet. So dropping a pretty shag rug in front of his mug might not be the best idea, but we're gonna try it out and see what happens.

Absolute Epic. Is There Any More Apt Description For This Cypress Slab Coffee Table Top? Siamese Cypress? How Rare A Coffee Table Must THIS Be?! Status: Soon To Be Available.

20130917_125153

I grabbed this and a few other Cypress tables almost as a lark on Sunday.  I've loved the biomorphic look of Cypress "steaks" like this since I was a young boy in the late '70s.  My father had a friend who made clocks out of smaller versions of these.  This piece would make one hellofa clock!

The Feminine Side to Modern Design

I want to start this first blog post from myself with a congratulations to Mr. Modtomic for Having 3 great years of back to back blog posts! I will never understand where he gets the energy and time to post everyday, but his blog has been a daily read for myself since the beginning.
My Name is Hannah, and I have a blog called Secondhand. I don't keep up with my blog the way Mr. Modtomic does, but I enjoy having a place to document some of my thrifty finds and projects along the way.
