Ahoy Matey! Yes It's The Middle Of Winter But It Be Fine Sailing Weather Were Ye Find These Splendid Syroco "Brass" Ships! Status: Available.

DSC_0483

My first instinct was to paint these plastic sailboats by Syroco...well, that's not entirely true. My FIRST instinct was to leave them behind, but I thought better of it and grabbed them up. I thought it might be a good idea to have something really inexpensive in the booth down at the Green Shag Market and I'm sure somebody will appreciate the cut of their jibs...so to speak.

Yeah, Christmas Is Still Ages Away...But When You Find Retro Seasonal Stuff, You Don't Look The Gift Horse In The Mouth. Status: Fa La La La La, In The Booth Real Soon.

20141020_233703

It's no secret, Mr. Modtomic LOVES the Christmas Season.  I love the decorations, the commercials, the snow, and most of all...the music!  I don't normally make much of an effort to offer Christmas decor in my booths because it's so dang hard to find any that aren't just...antique-y.

Recent Additions To The Girlfriends Salt And Pepper Shaker Collection. She Has A Seriously Discerning Eye...Yet A Seriously Huge Collection! Status:

20140722_124219

She may, for all I know, now have more salt and pepper shakers than she does vintage costume jewelry.  It's hard to tell.  We don't have as good a way to display the S&P sets as she does the jewelry...but I know she's got lots!

I Don't Know What This Little Covered Bowl Is, But We Found It In A Little Second Hand Shop In Hot Springs South Dakota. What A Pretty Little Town That Is. Status: Mystery Find.

20140707_132300

It was just so Mod looking that I couldn't leave it behind...even though I didn't know what it was or what it was used for!  Plus, there was a little surprise inside.

So If You Checked Out Yesterday's Post You Know The Mr. And The Girlfriend Hit The Wentzville Flea Sunday. It Was Sparse So We Hit Another Flea We Haven't Hit In Quite A While: The Union Flea. Status: The Booty!

20140511_182101

The combination of questionable weather and Mother's Day may have been the cause of so many empty vendor spaces at Wentzville this weekend but I still made out like a bandit...and then, since we were done so early, we decided to venture about another 30+ miles south west to the Union Flea.  More scores were to be had.

This Is The Little Table That Brought The Girlfriend And I Up To The Springfield Il. Last Weekend. It's Glass And Lucite And Gots A Bit Of A Swirl Going On. Status: Available.

20140320_014602_LLS

Isn't this a fantastic little side table?  I totally almost didn't get it too.  I spotted it on C-list and shot off a note to the seller.  They got back to me and said that it was already spoken for but that if the buyer flaked they'd gimme a hollah.

After Dropping Off The Factory Cart Coffee Table At My Booth In Creve Coeur Tuesday I Made The Thrift Store Rounds And Did Alright. I Left Half A Dozen Odd Smalls In The Booth But These Bits And Pieces Were Found After That. Status: Wanting For Tags.

20140305_160711

OK, I was going to try and get away with saying that I found all these wonderful items but the Girlfriend says she'll just rat me out in the comments if I do so I'll just go ahead and admit it, she picked that fantastic grey Melmac divided vegetable serving dish.  like I could have ever fooled you guys...you know who's nuts for the plastic 'round here.

Pickings Are Seemingly Slim Just About Everywhere This Time Of Year. I Think I Found Some Bargains In Portland OR Though. Wanna Take A Look? Sure Ya Do! Status: Not My Turf!

For you a rose in Portland grows. Greetings from Portland, Oregon

I haven't been finding too much on the StL. craigslist lately and a quick look through a number of other cities has left me wanting.  Thankfully, Portland Oregon came through with plenty of lovely bargains to show ya!

This Afternoon We Took Advantage Of A Beautiful Day To Drive Up The River Road To The Grafton Flea. Didn't Find Anything To Bring Home Except Some Photos Of Great Design And Classic Cars. Status: Bust.

20131027_130719

Whirlygigs wouldn't generally press me to get out the camera but something about this one got me.  I've looked around the net to see if this is maybe a knockoff of some famous design but I can't really find much.  Doesn't it smack of George Nelson or something?  Sadly, it wasn't for sale.

While At The Green Shag Market Saturday (Had To Restock, Sold Lots Over The Weekend!) I Picked Up Another Piece Of Brutalist Art. Matches The Brutalist Clock I Have Very Nicely. Status: Similar But Different.

DSCN2911

I've been eyeballin' this big piece of vintage plastic art for months.  It was in another booth at the Green Shag Market but put up so high on the wall that I wasn't even sure it was for sale.  I couldn't see a tag on it and for real, couldn't be bothered to ask.  But when we stopped by this last Saturday to drop off some new items in My booth I saw it was sitting on the floor, much more easily accessed.

I Forgot To Include This Lovely Melmac Covered Butter Dish Yesterday But I Was Plannin' On Featuring This Libbey Glass Set In A Caddy Today. Status: Mine And Hers.

DSCN2810

Yup, of course the butter dish is hers.  She's the plastics collector.  I snatched up the Libbey sky blue glasses and fully plan to offer them up at The Green Shag.  I dropped a set in there a while back without a caddy and they were gone in a flash.

Spaulding Melmac. Can't Get That One Wrong. It's Stamped In Full On The Bottom! I'm Glad Some Things Are Easy To ID, But If They All Were, This Wouldn't Be Much Fun Would It?! Status: All Hers!

DSCN2805

The Girlfriend got in on the action at the Florissant Old Town Marketplace last weekend and snatched up this nine piece set of Melmac plastic.  She's crazy for the stuff!  Can't hardly resist a pretty little set like this when it makes itself available.

Flea Markets And Antique Malls Have Been Good To A Mister But You May Remember How The Thrifts Have Been Leaving Me Wanting. Not So Last Sunday! Status: We're Back Baby!

DSCN1882

It's not such a huge haul but it's good stuff.  We stopped at the Value Village on a whim after a glorious meal at the Shaved Duck in South City and "what the What?" I found something good to bring home!  Finally.  It's really been far too long.  So two small lots?  I'll take that, thanks.

Man...Yesterday's Poke Around Nashville's Craigslist Was Pretty Cool, But Check Out The Booty Culled From The Treasure Aisle Antique Mall Last Saturday. Status: Haul.

DSCN1870

Earlier this week I took you on a little tour of Treasure Aisle antique mall.  I picked up a nice big box of goodies to bring home, some of which you might have already seen it the aforementioned post.  Funny thing is, I know we bought a little pair of black lamps but they weren't in the box and I can't find them anywhere!  I'll have to consult the Girlfriend about this.

We Decided To Spread Some Love ("$$$") Over At The Treasure Aisle Antique Mall On Saturday. Dropped Some Bank But Left Plenty Behind For You! Status: Nicely Appointed.

DSCN1812

Ohhmmmmmm...need to get your Inner Peace on, in a big way? You might need this!  What on earth did this giant hand come from?  It's pretty cool in a seriously frat house / art school student sort of way.  I've unfortunately outgrown such silliness, but I wouldn't ever look down my nose at it!

Didn't Bring Much Home But It Weren't For Lack Of Opportunity! Belleville Flea Market Weekend Tour. Status: Still Open Sunday!

DSCN1449

Dansk Kobenstyle...and lots of it!  It was priced a little out of my comfort zone but damn, ain't it sexy?  And who'd have guessed this would turn up at the Belleville Flea?  I love the crazy randomness of  what can be found here!

Two Mod Ice Buckets. Found In Two Sizes. Found In Two Colors. Found In Two Different Places. Yet So Similar! Status: Headed To The Antique Mall. Want One?

DSCN1387

I picked up the red vinyl ice bucket on half a lark while out checking traps Saturday in St. Charles.  I though, "Well, it's eye catching and it'll drag some attention into the antique mall booth" and bought it with that in mind as I already have the coolest ice bucket I think I'll ever find.  Then, while out at the Wentzville Flea, I found it's little buddy - this yellow vinyl ice bucket!

Booth 125 - Treasure Aisle. A Brief Tour For Those Who Love The Smalls! Status: Always With The Good Stuff!

DSCN0247

Ah, the ubiquitous Primary Color Mixing Bowls!  Around here these are almost always, without fail, priced at $65 - $75.   Is this true of your area too?  It's like the gas stations and how they somehow all come up with about the same price for gas.  Weird, that.  But otherwise, this booth space ALWAYS has great retro kitchen smalls!

This Was Sold To Me As A Scoop Chair...And That's What I Still Believe It To Be, But Somebody At The Green Shag Lot Sale Mentioned "Really Big Salad Bowl". Status: Not THAT Hungry!

DSCN0270

No...I'm pretty certain that it's a chair.  It was purchased without any cushions and completely "untested" (I didn't bother to sit in it).  After I did try it out it became clear that the chair would certainly need some sort of cushioning.  Chrome and "Lucite".  Pretty cool, huh!

So What Kinda Stuff You Think Mr. Modtomic Will Have At The Big Green Shag Parking Lot Sale This Saturday? Status: Gonna Be An Interesting Weekend!

DSCN7541

Last weekend I took Friday off giving me a four day weekend....to Scour The Thrifts! My efforts yielded plenty of smalls for the sale this weekend as well as the mall space (Mr. Modtomic's Area 44? I-"44" roadside treasures?) that I will be trying to start the same weekend! Yikes!
