Like Many Others Out There, The Walt Disney World Polynesian Village Mug Is What Got My Motor Started In The Tiki Collecting World. My Mom Gave Me One Years Ago And I Was Off To The (Tiki Bar) Races. Status: Available.

20150719_202528~2

Disney, the Fifties, Tiki...it all comes together in these fabulous frosted glass mugs.  Oddly enough, they also sport the theater comedy and tragedy faces in Tiki guise.  Having never been to the Polynesian Village I cannot say that the faces don't have anything to do with Tiki, but I still find it questionable.

Sure, It Was A Three Day Weekend...But Does It Count If It Rains Every Day? Bringing Home A Pair Of Arthur Umanoff Iron And Leather Wine Racks Today Helped To Soothe The Pain. Status: A Mess.

20141013_182016

In case you also spotted this pair of Umanoff wine racks on craigslist this afternoon and thought about (or made a play for) them, you might have passed on them anyway.  They are quite the mess.  Probably haven't been dusted (much less actually cleaned) in years.

Wanna See What $8.50 Got Mr. Modtomic At The Goodwill This Afternoon? No, It Wasn't An Epic Haul But Neither Was It Too Shabby For An Unscheduled Stop. Status: Satisfied.

20140912_122615

You KNOW Mr. M cannot resist some silver fade Dorothy Thorpe style bar ware! The funny thing is, they were half the price of the "rocks" glasses I picked up too. Both the cashier and myself could do little more than twist our faces up In bemusement and shrugg.

Getting Back To Small Items Again. This Is A Rather Eclectic Mix And That's Just What You Need In An Otherwise Pretty Focused Antique Mall Booth. Status: Ready For Cleanup.

20140902_165641

I picked up each one of these items about a month apart. The bamboo wine rack was the latest find and it came from the Goowill where as the stone bull and the plastic starburst candle holders both were flea finds. Everything but the bull needs to be cleaned a little but they'll all be tagged up soon.

Dorothy Thorpe Style Booty (Ha, That's Kinda Funny) From The Worlds Longest Yard Sale, The Famous 127 Corridor Flea Market. As You Can See, You Can Find Good Stuff If You Are Persistent Enough. Status: In The Booth!

20140815_153808

This nice little haul of chrome rim bar ware came from two different sources along highway 127 but both sets were great bargains.   I would normally keep (horde?) this stuff for my own bar collection, but I think I've got enough.  Time to spread the wealth so these pieces are available in booth 307 at The Antique Mall of Creve Coeur.

I Kinda Wish I Had A Poster Size Print Of This Photo To Hang Behind Our Bar At Home. It Pretty Much Says It All, Doesn't It? "Joe's Welcome Wagon", Nice! Status: Not My Booth.

20140803_171213

Only issue with Joe's setup is, well...a janitorial trolly?  Really Joe?  That's the best you could come up with?  You've got all that great liqueur there and gussy up your self, but the cart?  Neah, let that be.

It's Like A Little Vintage Party Kit! Martini, Cheese, Fruit, Chianti...Just Add, Well, That Stuff, Some Friends And This Walnut, Stainless Steel And Tile Cutting Board Set! Status: Headed To The Booth.

20140211_124807

More smalls from the weekend.  This cutting board set is in remarkable condition.  Except for a few edge chips in the tile (I think they might have been there when new) the entire set looks unused.  I find it astounding that the set is still complete.

Huh, When I Picked These Up At A Thrift Store In New Orleans Over The Holidays I Figured They Were Contemporary And That The Huki Lau In Metairie La. Might Still Be Around. Not So Much. It's Been Gone For Decades! Status Vintage Tiki Mugs!

20140108_161442

While crashing with Mom-tomic in New Orleans the Girlfriend and I got a little tour of the surrounding area including a pretty nice, if somewhat pricey, thrift store.  For realz, most of the prices made us all laugh out loud...but that 'cuz we come from the land of plenty - St. Louis.  Still, this lot of Tiki mugs managed to find their way into both my basket...and my heart.  Awe...

First, Happy New Year!!! While In NOLA, We Never Made It To What Used To Be Neophobia (And Is Now Loisel Vintage Modern) But There Was Plenty Of Cool Stuff At The Magazine Street Antique Mall To Scavenge Through. Status: Recommended.

20131226_154652

Neophobia was always one of our favorite stops in New Orleans.  I guess it's been a little while since our last time through since we found it gone and in it's place Loisel Vintage Modern.  We peeked in through the windows up front and were sorely dissapointed that we weren't able to get in, but I am happy with their choice of name.  I've been championing the term "Vintage Modern" ever since I started blogging as a more appropriate label for that which we all love.  Seems to be catching on!

It....Is....PARTY....Time! Have You Ever Clicked That Little Link On The Right Side Bar Labled "Tiki Bar TV"? No? Well, Here's Your Chance To Party With The Cast And Learn To Make A New Cocktail! Status: Good Times!

Tiki Bar Red October

My buddy Kevin showed me this site ages ago and it's been one of my favorites ever since.  This team put together these entertaining shorts that are centered around the mixing of one cocktail for each episode.  You'll not only be laughing your @ss off, you'll learn how to make a fantastic new drink every show!

South Bend Indiana. I Bet There's Someone Up There Looking For Some Vintage Style On The Cheap! Wanna See What We Can Find? Sure Ya Do. Status: Not My Turf!

Greetings From South Bend, Indiana

Today we're gonna take a little stroll through the South Bend Indiana craigslist and look for some good looking vintage modern bargains.  South Bend is no Chicago but with a little determination I was able to find a couple of interesting items that surely some one in the area might have missed.

More Pics From The Randolph Street Market In Chicago. And Believe Me...This Isn't Even The HALF Of It! Oddly Enough Though, The Flea Isn't What I'd Call Huge...Or Even That Big. Status: Well Curated!

20130824_111218

THIS is what happens when a flea can pick and choose who sets up.  Instead of wildly random vendors, you can see a focus develop.  It's not so narrow as to end up with just 25 buyers walking around either.  My guess, it takes a delicate touch and a spine of steel.  Don't know if I'd want that job!

The Girlfriend Decided That We Needed New Phones So We "Upgraded" Over The Weekend. I Decided That Today I'd Post This Lot Of Smalls Entirely From The New Gadget. Status: Wonky Pic Sizing!

20130723_122511

Wide screen photo dimensions aside, the new Samsung phone is easier to post from than the "old" LG. I don't actually do many different things with my phone so I don't download any apps, but what I do do with it I do A LOT. Getting a new phone is, as a result, quite a stressful situation. This one seems to be working out so far with only a few hiccups here and there.

Yes, Indeed. The Florida Keys Lived Up To My Every Expectation. Sit Back, Relax And Let The Warm Gulf Breeze Wash Over You. But You Gotta Find A Place To Sleep Off That Hangover, Right? Status: Siesta Motel - Marathon Key FLA

DSCN9562

While there are a few grand neon motel signs still up and in working condition in the Florida Keys and along the coasts in general, the massive storms they have to endure tend to thin their numbers and as a result you find many more like this.  Still cute and the motel itself...Retro-tastic!

This Years Roadtrip Vacation Was Truly So. I Avoided (As Much As I Could Manage!) Scavenging For Booty And Posting From The Road. Alas, I Did Still Pick Up A Few Pieces Of Whatnot During The Last Two Weeks. Status: Glass Smalls.

DSCN9671

Truth be told, I picked up these Ruby Chalices about a day BEFORE our vacation began.  But I didn't get a chance to share them with you because of time constraints.  They've been around for ages before I picked them up so waiting a few more weeks for their 15 minutes of fame here ain't gonna hurt nothin'!

Ever Wonder How You Get "Ahead" In This Vintage Modern Craziness? Well, Finding "A Head" At The Flea Market Can't Hurt! Status: Flea Finds On Friday!

DSCN3229

It wasn't cheap (or maybe it was and my cheap meter is out of whack) but I wasn't finding much else and I wasn't coming home empty handed.  The seller said he had sold a dozen or so in the previous weeks but this one was his last.  I was happy to relieve him of it!

It's Been A Crazy Weekend. I Need A Drink. How About A Whiskey? This Set Should Help With That. Looks Like New. Status: Headed To The Shop.

DSCN3287

One of my co-workers offered to GIVE me this as a neighbor had offered to give it to her.  She's not into vintage the way we are and she knew I'd love it so she shot me a text photo of it.  I asked her to bring it in to work and gave her some cash for it.  Next stop: Fleur De Lis - Home Source.

New In Box. Don't Ya Just Love That Phrase? These Lovely Libbey Seville Glasses Were Found Saturday At Treasure Aisle. Status: Not Cheap.

DSCN3154

These were just pretty enough to pay retail for.  That means I'm keeping them.  But then, why wouldn't I?  A full set of 8 with all the original packaging.  Sweet find, if not a sweet deal.
