See That Label? Means A Lot To Us, Right? Not So Much To Someone In New Orleans With A Couple Cans Of Paint And A Bright Idea. But Again, There Ain't Nothin' That Can't Be Saved, Right? Begs The Question: Should It Be "Saved"? Status: (Update) Already Gone.

Funny little story about this little Knoll stool: I spotted it many years ago in New Orleans at another shop at the far west end of Magazine Street.  I had hoped at the time that the seller would let it go for cheap since they obviously didn't have a clue of what it was.

A Couple More Small Items Picked Up Over The Last Few Weekends. Mod Desk Lights Aren't So Hard To Find But Original Mid Century Paintings...Good Luck! Status: Available.

Our trip to the Litchfield Pickers Market yielded more than the little stool and phone I featured a couple days ago.  This nice size acrylic modernist painting was also sourced on that lovely fall day.  The little mod Tensor desk lamp was a thrift find that had been loitering in the back of the car for who knows how long...you know how it is.

More Small Scores From The Rutledge Flea In Northern Missouri...And I've Still Got Other Stuff To Show! Turns Out That Friday Might Not Be The Day To Attend. Saturday Had More Vendors. Status: Available.

20150913_163204_HDR~2

It's both a beautifully sculpted piece of walnut AND a lovely religious figure.  I'm not a particularly religious fella but I just can't seem to resist modern religious art.  Go figure.  This piece and a terrific Russel Wright casserole made their way to the booth in The Time Machine Antique Mall recently.

What A Pleasant Weekend (For The Most Part...There Was Some Rain) For The Flea Markets! We Managed To Hit TWO Last Sunday. There Is A New One In Town: The St. Louis Swap Meet. Status: Meh...So Far.

20150519_124402_HDR

It's not much loot, but (sadly) it's better than what I found up North at the Olmsted County Gold Rush Antique Market And Flea!  But this all came from 2 fleas here at home.  The Wentzville and the new St. Louis Swap Meet.

What Can I Say, I've Been Lazy. But I'm Still Posting! I Mean, Just Look! Some Smalls I've Picked Up, The Best Of Which Would Be A Fantastic Set Of Norman Bleckner Bookends. Status: Available.

DSCN0741

Some of this lot has been sitting around here for a lil bit and some of it just recently found its way into the fray.  The candle holder and platter are fairly recent finds but the bookends have been sitting in a small paper bag since last Halloween!

Don't It Just Feel So Good When You Finally Check Off A Long Searched For Item That's Been Haunting Your Wanted List? These Donald Deskey Andirons Have Finally Given Our Built In Fireplace The Vintage Modern Touch It Sorely Needed. Status: Mine.

DSC_0586

In the strictest definition andirons are used to hold firewood up off the hearth floor and to prevent the logs from escaping out of the front of the fireplace upon shifting during burning.  While yes, this pair of Donald Deskey designed andirons could do all of that, their purpose is much more in the vein of aesthetics.

Ahoy Matey! Yes It's The Middle Of Winter But It Be Fine Sailing Weather Were Ye Find These Splendid Syroco "Brass" Ships! Status: Available.

DSC_0483

My first instinct was to paint these plastic sailboats by Syroco...well, that's not entirely true. My FIRST instinct was to leave them behind, but I thought better of it and grabbed them up. I thought it might be a good idea to have something really inexpensive in the booth down at the Green Shag Market and I'm sure somebody will appreciate the cut of their jibs...so to speak.

Brutalism And Fancy Fishes! Who Needs Curtis Jere Or Flights Of Birds? The Style Smacks Of William Freidel But The Piece Doesn't Appear To Be Signed. Status: Available.

DSC_0448

When I went out to pick up the pair of Pearsall style chairs I featured last time here on Mr. Modtomic I was lucky enough to find this exceptional vintage modern wall sculpture available as well.  Of course I had to grab it up and now it's available out at Creve Coeur too.

Last Night We Decided To Try The Dinner Menu At Rooster On Grand. Since We Were Mere Footsteps From Rocket Century, A Visit With Proprietor Kristina Seemed Like A Good Idea. Shot A Little Video While Hanging Out. Status: Perused.

Rocket Century

Never had a chance to hang out at Rocket Century and groan and sigh over all the pretty things you'd totally want to haul home?  Well, here's an opportunity to see what you've been missing.  I'm still on the upward stroke of the video learning curve, but I think this is my best one yet.

Yeah, Christmas Is Still Ages Away...But When You Find Retro Seasonal Stuff, You Don't Look The Gift Horse In The Mouth. Status: Fa La La La La, In The Booth Real Soon.

20141020_233703

It's no secret, Mr. Modtomic LOVES the Christmas Season.  I love the decorations, the commercials, the snow, and most of all...the music!  I don't normally make much of an effort to offer Christmas decor in my booths because it's so dang hard to find any that aren't just...antique-y.

Wow, What A Change...Now It's Smalls That Are Slow To Be Found! And Camera Tripods. I'm Trying To Find Another Cheap But Quality Tripod But Came Home With The Yellow Cat Lamp. Status: Available.

20141006_163744

Cool lamp, huh.  And is that another small Jere sunburst with geese?  Yup.  But that's about it for small vintage goodness.  Of course, I haven't been looking real hard lately either.  But now I need another camera tripod so I'll be looking a bit more.

The Weekend Provided Such Beautiful Weather That We Got Our Butts Up Early And Hit The Flea Market. Didn't Find Much But I Did Bring Home This Great Set Of Decorative Cat Plaques. Status: Wanting Some Rattle Can Love.

DSCN0661

Yep, I put together another video today.  I'm still working with the same hardware and software, but I'm getting better at putting it all together.  I did a little research today and looked at some new cameras online.  Maybe sometime soon I'll have a better quality product to present.

I Picked Up Some Seriously Seventies Smalls Over The Weekend: A Misrepresented "Wire Sculpture" And An Awesome Magazine Rack. Alas, That Was About It For The Weekend! Status: Awaiting Further Instructions.

20140908_152227

I can't really decide if I want to keep this lot or offer it up in the booth(s).  The "Magazine" rack fits right in with our living room / cocktail area (if we could use it - it's a mess right now) and the Wire Sculpture has me intrigued.

Getting Back To Small Items Again. This Is A Rather Eclectic Mix And That's Just What You Need In An Otherwise Pretty Focused Antique Mall Booth. Status: Ready For Cleanup.

20140902_165641

I picked up each one of these items about a month apart. The bamboo wine rack was the latest find and it came from the Goowill where as the stone bull and the plastic starburst candle holders both were flea finds. Everything but the bull needs to be cleaned a little but they'll all be tagged up soon.

I Don't Know...Is This A Travesty Or Utter Brilliance? Personally, I Love It. I Think This Danish Modern Inlaid Tile Drop Leaf Table Top Looks Fantastic Attached To This Florence Knoll Base...But I Won't Have To Live With It. Status: Hot Or Not?

20140901_183726

I picked up the Florence Knoll base with half of a (LARGE) walnut conference table top.  Unfortunately, since it was just half a top, there is a full edge that is unfinished.  That top isn't marked Knoll either, so I don't even know if it was original.  I kicked around the idea of cutting that top down to a desk size but then I found this!

Did I Say I Was Done With The 127 Corridor Sale? Sorry! I Almost Forgot About These Great Classroom Retractable North And South America Maps. OK, Now I'm Pretty Sure This Is It. Status: Available.

20140824_165116

Remember these!  Do schools even use these retractable maps anymore?  I see these in a lot of posts on Apartment Therapy.  They make great art pieces and are just so bright and colorful, they'd look especially great in a stylish child's room or a nursery.

These Beautiful Blue Art Glass Pieces Were The VERY First Purchase On Our Highway 127 WLFM Weekend Adventure. I Was So Afraid They Wouldn't Survive The Entire Trip, But They Made It! Status: Available In Booth 307.

20140815_163139

I actually hesitated when I spotted this lovely pair of...uh, what exactly are these called? Vases? Chalices? I don't know. I can't seem to find the right term for them in my brain at the moment. Anybody? At any rate, finding good stuff right away felt like a good sign. I guess I should have taken it as a sign that I'd find mostly good Smalls!

More Loot From The Worlds Longest Flea Market: The 127 Corridor Yard Sale. This Russel Wright Pitcher And Vari-point Lead Sharpener Are Just Two More Of The Stash Of Smalls I Nabbed. Status: Soon To Be Tagged.

20140814_124816

I was REALLY hoping that I was going to be pulling into the driveway here at home on Sunday with a Focus wagon FILLED with awesome chairs, tables, lighting and such...but it just wasn't meant to be. Instead I'm having to be happy with a decent haul of smalls. I'm not disappointed but just a little underwhelmed. Still, compared to an average haul from the local fleas I did quite well!
