Ha! Finally...A Craigslist Find! Timing (Sometimes) Is Everything. This Wegner Style Folding Chair Popped Up This Morning And I Was Just Able To Procure It Before Work. Status: Keeper?

DSCN0538

Years ago I picked up a pair of Hans Wegner folding chair knockoffs and quickly found them a new home.  I tried to love them...even taking them with us to the drive in theater, but it just never happened.  Picking up this single makes me wonder if maybe it was that those were a pair.

What Is It With Wentzville And Hans Wegner?!? OK, Maybe It's Not A "Thing", But Finding Ol' H-Dub There Twice (And Not Knockoffs Either!) Seems Like More Than A Coincidence. Status: My Turn (Already Gone!)

DSCN9907

If you've been reading the blog for any time at all you probably know the story about the Hans Wegner "The" chairs that I hesitated on and consequently missed out on buying at the Wentzville flea a few years ago. 'Twas in the top Three if not THE greatest pick fail of my life. Well, that Karma has come back around and in such an obvious way...I'm a little insulted!

Looking For Some Cheap Style...Waaay Out There In The Desert Southwest? An Anonymous Reader Asked And Mr. Modtomic Delivers. Status: Not My Turf!

Greetings from Tucson, Arizona - Large Letter Postcard

Here we go again on another quest for vintage modern bargains in some far flung city that I (at least) will not be harvesting. With an estimated metropolitan area population of nearly a million people, certainly a few will find this little collection helpful. For the rest of us...read it and weep (maybe not "weep" but at least feel the sensation of envy).

Looking For Some Cheap Style? Melissa Nominated Millwaukee Wisconsin For Our Latest Craigslist Query. Status: Not My Turf!

Greetings from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, The City That Made Beer Famous - Large Letter Postcard

It may be like pulling teeth (San Fransisco) but the results never cease to amaze me. With just an hour or so searching I'm able to come up with what I suspect are some very nice, overlooked gems in each of the metropolitan areas that I've been charged with scouring, and the Milwaukee Wisconsin craigslist has been no different. Craigslist is like thrifting from the comfort of your favorite easy chair! Don't have a favorite easy chair? I bet you could find one on craigslist!

Looking For Some Cheap Style? Let's Look Around Denver For Some Undiscovered Treasure, Diamonds In The Rough And Otherwise Under Valued Goodness. Status: Not My Turf

Wait, what's wrong with this picture? OK, so somebody took some liberties with their refinish of this Broyhill Brasilia dining set...but if you're not a purist, it's not so bad. I actually kinda like it! You'd definitely have a one of a kind set! Look inside for the link.

The Ivey - Selkirk Modernism Auction Preview Part 2 - Previewier! Status: Gettin' The Itch To Go Yet?

Chairs DSCN4591 2

I was just perusing the auction catalog and realized, what a coincidence...I'm breaking my blog post into three parts and the sale is broken into three parts!  Most of what I'm interested in seeing sell is in the first session on Saturday starting at 11am.  A lot of the art is going on the second session starting on Sunday at 11am. with the rest of the art selling on Monday at 11am.  By the way, are these bad boys sexy as all h*ll or what?

Thank You Veterans! Thank You For Protecting Our Freedom Of Speech! Here's To The Blog! Status: Long Weekend - Wentzville Flea Market.

DSCN2524

Hit the Flea Market this weekend. It was kind of a bust. I guess vendors saved all the good stuff for the Gypsy Caravan (an annual pay to get in flea market here in St. Louis). I had a HUGE project today so I didn't make it to the Gypsy Caravan. Sad.

The Girlfriend's Grandmother Lives In Chicago...Right On Lakeshore Drive! She's Got Good Taste In Furnishings Too. Status: Envious.

Herman Miller George Nelson Desk 1

Right...see that view out the window? Lakeshore Drive and to the right, Lake Michigan. ::sigh:: Then she's only a hop, skip and a jump from Wrigley Field as well. Nice huh?

I Guess You Heard About The Tornadoes In St. Louis This Weekend. Missed Me By A Hare's Breath. Whew. Oh, And I Got A Cool Pair Of Chairs! Status: I Guess I Must Be Livin' Right.

DSCN2070

Yup, dodged a bullet...barely. Tornadoes tore St. Louis up again this weekend, this time just a few miles away from me. The Airport and surrounding areas took the brunt of Mother Nature's Love. But you can all breathe a sigh of relief because amidst all the senseless destruction, I did manage to keep buying stuff I don't need. ...but it is really really cool stuff!
