Merry Christmas Er'body! 'Specially You: City Of Brotherly Love, Home Of The Cheese Steak. You Looking For Some Cheap Style To Go With That Broken Bell? Sure Ya Are! Status: Not My Turf!

postcard - from fairydreamer, USA

Min in Philly requested a scouring of here local craigslist a few days ago HERE and I'm happy to oblige.  Hope you find some good stuff in here Min that you can pick up after opening all your presents and cleaning up all the wrapping paper...that is, if you don't gorge yourself silly on Christmas dinner!

China cabinet and Buffet - $200 (Langhorne)   Isn't this an amazing set?  I don't normally do two pics here but I wanted to be sure you saw that for 2 bills you get BOTH an very nice buffet AND that seriously beautiful china cabinet.

Mid Century Eames Syle Chair with Ottoman - $95 (Merion, Pa)  It don't look like much but this is an Adrian Pearsall set!  Check out this chair at Furnish Me Vintage to see what it's supposed to look like.  I'd say, for the money and if you were going to keep it...this chair and ottoman would be great for learning upholstery.

Modern black & silver chair - $35 (Center City)  There were a couple of these chairs at a St. Louis local modernism auction last year.  They look great in person.  I've seen them in the lobby of a couple of buildings downtown both here in the StL and in Chicago.  $35 is a steal.

Cabinets maple (PA)$300 or reasonable offer  These are maybe a little bit blocky or maybe too retro for some but I really like that drop front desk.  I'd take the legs off all of them and replace them with slightly longer "splayed" legs painted black and put some on the second cabinet that is sitting on top of the other in the pic.  That would make for a really nice barware / bar setup!

Not Your Average Heywood Wakefield - $175 (Center City (Bella Vista))  Again, two pics were needed as the seller doesn't have one pic of the entire piece.  It's described in the ad as having had a hole cut in the center of the hutch for a TV.  I wouldn't mind.  I'd still buy it!  Heck, the buffet (with those gorgeous tambour doors!) is worth the asking price alone!

Chair - $15 (Lansdale, Pa) How about a Mies Van Der Rohe MR-20 chair for less than $20?  Probably a cheap kockoff but c'mon...it's $15, and even the knockoffs ain't really cheap!  Cheap - Style!  That's what this post is all about.  And if it's not a knockoff...well you've got yourself quite a little score there donchya?

Beautiful modern wood desk - $40 (28th and Girard)  What a great looking danish modern desk.  It's got simple clean lines and great pulls.  I'd have snatched this up in a heartbeat.  $40?  There's money left all over that table...so to speak.  Buy it to keep and you've got a great desk that'll last your forever...buy it to flip and it's easy money.

Modern Chair (Leather & Chrome) - $200 (Center City)  Not so much a bargain but still, if you're in need of a Wassily chair and you've got a little extra Christmas cash burning a hole in your pocket...  Maybe do a bit of haggling.  In looking around the Philly craigslist it looks like prices on the whole are more like Chicago than St. Louis so this might be a good price for a Marcel Breuer B3 knockoff, I'm not sure.

LUCITE AND OAK CHAIRS - $100 (LEVITTOWN, PA)  I'm not a fan of Lucite as a material for useful items but I do concede that it looks great...until it gets used.  But if you don't mind seeing the little scratches and haziness that you often do with Lucite then you might wanna check out this pair (a third is apparently available for just $50 more) of really pretty cool chairs!  I've never seen any others like these.  Neat shape!

swivel chair - $25 (roxborough)  This pretty hip office swivel chair looks like it might need some new padding but the upholstery looks like it's in good shape.  These older office chairs are fairly indestructible. I've never seen this line before and I'm digging the stark severity of it.  Probably by Steelcase...which sounds...stark....and severe.
