I could almost hear this chair whispering, "Kill.....Me..." It made me ponder: what do you do with an iconic chair that is just too far gone? How far does one go to rescue a chair like this?
Another sweet find from Memphis TN. If you live near Memphis, I implore you...check out Antique Warehouse Mall. You are reading this because we share a similar sensibility where vintage modern is concerned, so I know you'll find all manor of goodness for you to clutter up your home (too) with.
This is so Yin / Yang. I had such a great vacation. Nothin' but good times and relaxation. But the moment we pulled into the driveway I had to mow the grass...then unload the car. Then I had to get up early and mow some more grass before heading into work. And it's been nothing but trying to get things done with no time since.
Soooo much junque! I almost missed this. It pays to be vigilant! Yeah, it looks rough and is covered in years of dust and cobwebs...but the bones are in good shape and it has lots of potential. Best of all...a $15 adoption fee rescued it!
Oh what a tease. The weather can be a cruel mistress. Warm on Friday (when everybody else was off at work!) and Saturday (I at least had that day off!) but right back to cold and cloudy Sunday. As a matter of fact, it just started snowing. Yuck. No BBQ today.
Having finally let go of the Console Stereo, I was able to move the Thayer Coggin sofa out of the MIDDLE of the livingroom / lounge and USE it! And OMG, this ain't like the other two sofas...this is the Luxury Sofa. Ever seen the movie Buffalo 66? "I'm used to Luxury Cars...have you ever heard of a Luxury Car, you know what Luxury means? Have you ever heard of Cadillac? Cadillac Eldorado? That's what I drive. I drive cars that Shift themselves." 14 minutes into the movie and it's one of the funniest, most "look at how much of a jerk I am" scenes ever. No "Shifter" cars for me, I drive a "Luxury" wagon!
Well the leaves are all off the trees and I'm just now getting around to pulling down the Franciscan Starburst and replacing it with my collection of Franciscan Autumn. At this rate it'll probably be Easter before I get the winter dishes (Salem Northstar) out for display!
My first effort at real High End. Genuine Knoll quality and amazing design by the architect of the Gateway Arch! Oh yeah, they're comfy too! Supportive and Firm!
Top is After, Bottom is Before. It took me all day to get the two "old" sofas and bookcase out of here and the two "new" sofas and bookcase in. That bookcase barely made it through the door...and barely fits!
I bought this at Steve's Antiques over the summer. I had seen it there languishing in the back for quite a while and finally realized that it just needed to come home with me.
I get e-mails from time to time asking how I'm able to put so many pictures in my ads when Craigslist only gives you the option for Four total pics. I'm happy as a clam to help anybody out I can. It really sucks seeing the same seller with 15 or 20 ads taking up half a page of a Search. I don't know if having all my stuff in just 2 ads is a selling advantage or not but it sure makes it easier on me! I DO know that having crisp clear Pics that the buyer can click on to see larger pics IS an advantage.
The last time I dropped some pics here of my "Proto" camera collection I said that I needed a camera that fits between a piece from the 1940s and the 1970s. I found a couple at the Wentzville Flea Mkt. a few weeks ago that fit the bill.
Just picked this up yesterday (Craigslist) and looks like Kennedy (the Cold War kittie) has already staked his claim. It was already covered in some kind of animal hair so I'm letting him have his way with it for the moment.
These very stylish chairs are so comfy. Great for lounging in front of the TV or playing cards with friends. Even if you don't win, you'll look good loosing!
Picked this guy up from thrift store on the way over to help my mom with her computer (she also sells on Craigslist!). I had to stop. I just couldn't help myself.
Nothing says hard partyin' like a Shriner fez...just look! It's hard for Mr. Modtomic to find one that fits his (large size brain) head though. What's up with small heads and vintage hats?
In the '80s there were like all your obvious dream cars: Porsche 911 Turbo, Ferrari 308 GTB Bi-Turbo, Lamborghini Countach, and some might include the Corvette or even the Lotus Esprit Turbo...but I always had a spot in my heart for the Pantera. It's half Sports Car and half Muscle Car. It's the Super Car you could work on in your garage.
Party people in the place to be - I'm Mr. Modtomic, I'm not an MC. I do collect Boomboxes though! Actually I've wanted to start a boombox collection for EVER. Even longer than I've been collecting vintage modern furniture.
Yup, the pickin's was slim and the weather was hot but it was a pretty day to just poke around a bunch of junk. Plus, I think the Girlfriend found a new collecting interest.
The joint has been around for ever. They still have hot rod shows / cruise nights. The food is exactly what you hope when you pull into the lot. And yes, there is Rock & Roll playing all the time!
She's coming back from Florida tomorrow after spending a week hitting Seaworld, some big mouse themed play park, the beach and some place called Space Mountain. Whateve'. I just hope she brings me plenty of silly souvenirs! When she came back from Cuba she brought back some amazing small sculptures.
Ain't they just spectacular even as is? The Girlfriend and I were headed to the Drive In movies in Belleville when just seconds before passing the off ramp I decided to take the "long way" since it passes a Goodwill along the way.
