This Weekend We Finally Got Back Out To The Local Thrifts And Oh Was It A Nice Welcome Home! We Made A Quick Pass Of Six Local Thrifts And Brought Home Plenty. Status: First Lot.

I don't know if perhaps the reason we didn't feel like we were finding much at the thrifts and fleas over vacation was because there just wasn't much to be had or because we just didn't know the hunting grounds.  Either way, it's nice to be back on familiar turf!

I used to find these amber glass glow base dual illuminated table lamps all the time at the thrifts!

Now they are few and far between.  It's interesting to recall how "things used to be" just a few years

ago both at the thrifts and on craigslist.  I was told that these type lamps sell quickly at The Green

Shag, so I snatched this one up quick.  The Chemex coffee pot isn't headed anywhere though...at least

for now.  I just need to find some of the coffee filters for this.  I tried a permanent automatic filter and

the hot water just ran right through it.  Fail.

The little Cool Shops book was purchased for research.  I plan to go over it with the notion of

utilizing some of the ideas in the shop (Fleur De Lis - Home Source) and in my booth at The Green

Shag.  It's got some great photos of shops in L. A.  This kind of book doesn't seem like it would have

a very long shelf life, does it?  It was printed in '05 and who knows how many of these shops are still

open.  But check out the Atomic Pyrex carafe!  I've got a matching glass Pyrex bowl but haven't seen

many other pieces of this.  Wouldn't it be great to find a whole set of tumblers in this pattern?!

  1. Nice score on the Chemex! You can find authentic filters at Kaldi's at a very reasonable price.

Found a beautiful 13 cup vintage Chemex at an estate sale last year, and loved using it. Unfortunately it met it's demise in a kitchen accident. Have been looking for a bargain replacement since then. The Chemex brewing process results in a lovely cup of coffee, I hope you use and enjoy it.
