It's looking like an Orangey Orange weekend here at the Modtomic Ranch! Picked up a great Le Creuset sauce pan a couple days ago and just got the tall Sunset screenprint piece today.
Don't ya just love it when you find something good AND "signed" at the thrift? Yeah, I know...they're not really signed but it's a lot closer than just a blank bottom! And I got a LOT of 'em!
Sadly, no tags. Probably not Knoll since the seller...well, said they weren't. Still, they got style for miles and they'll go nicely with the chrome base table I featured a few days ago. I've still got to fix up the top of that table though, so it'll be a while.
Right, so what do I need with another Eames lounger knockoff project? I don't. But alas, I just couldn't say "No"! Surely I can find something to do with this mess of a lounge chair.
I love finding these vintage decor books. They seem so few and far between. And a tree stand for the metal Christmas tree stand? Don't get me started how hard I searched for That!
I've got a book on all this stuff in my booth (well, I think it's still in there), but maybe I need to pull it out and keep in my "library" since figuring out whether this stuff is vintage or not is kind of a pain. I'm like 90% sure this is Very vintage, like 1930's vintage, but since Fiesta kept messing with the marks and all, it's still hard to pin down.
No no, this King Size Brasilia Bookcase headboard isn't the said "Modified Brasilia"...I don't want to shock any delicate sensibilities so you'll have to click through to peruse THAT! Reader Jeff from KC was kind enough to share some photos of his personal Brasilia collection, one piece of which has been cleverly repurposed.
I forgot all about the mixed metal bird art. I picked up the larger Biscayne gravy pitcher a few days ago and the smaller cream pitcher has been hanging around here for a while. Time I blogged about 'em all, wouldn't you say?
This fixture is another one of those killer items that got overlooked by everybody on craigslist...
including me! I had been listed early Saturday afternoon and I didn't spot it until late Sunday evening. I hate it when that happens.
Nice barware scores, right? I just got the Dorothy Thorpe style silver rim flutes today. The Ruby Red chalices were a weekend find that I'm just now getting around to unwrapping.
You know those carts the Goodwill rolls out hoping the hoarders (you know 'em, they're the ones who grab a cart as soon as they walk in the front door) clean off so they won't have to find a place on the shelves for the stuff. That's were I found both of these items! But relax, I didn't fill up a cart...or block all the aisles with it either.
Dang, I almost wish OUR living room looked this good. Cohesive...maybe that's the word. That walnut Drexel Declaration coffee table, a comfy leather Westnofa lounge chair and now, the classic Chesterfield sofa. Get that Burke dining set out of there and that could be any of our living rooms I'd say.
I'm such a sucker for matched pairs of stuff, like nightstands....and well, lamps. The problem with lamps is finding matched shades for them since most of the time, when you find a lamp or lamps, the shades are toast. This pair came with shades but they were miss-matched. So I'll be on the lookout.
Aside from the shade...Ain't this a lovely vintage modern Laurel floor lamp? Alas, the shade came with it. Sorta Antiquey right? Not really our thing...but you don't throw the baby out with the bath water, do you?!
I Love big block buster movies! Yeah, there's a lot of haters out there who quote all differences but c'mon... Truth is, I didn't exactly memorize the book, so I don't even know what they are going on about. I just thought it was a freakin' cool flick! But what was even cooler...
I don't know...is this metal suitcase an antique mall item? Surely the grapes are but what do you think...an aluminum case? Well, it is a Halliburton! 'Memba them?
I'm pretty sure I just barely beat another potential buyer to the draw on this killer bentwood danish lounge chair Sunday afternoon. I stopped by the Goodwill near downtown and while giving this a once over another couple seemed to be skulking about behind me like a couple of vultures.
See! Necessity IS the mother of invention! No more room on the floor of your booth? Go up! I'm way behind the curve on this though. So many of the other vendors have already done this...and done it well. Well, I'm playing catch up now.
I'll admit, I didn't have a lot of faith that St. Louis could support another stand alone bricks and mortar, but here it is...Rocket Century! After a little more than a year the joint is still going strong.
I picked up this beautiful and (nearly) complete vintage silver christmas tree from a vendor at the Belleville Flea earlier this summer. It seemed silly to pull it out and show it off in the middle of July but tonight looks like our first evening at or below freezing, so now might be a little more appropriate.
We got a short dry spell this morning before I had to head into work so I dragged the new chrome table base outside and pulled this equally heavy (well, almost) table top out of the garage to show how nice a dining table the pair are gonna make. This is gonna be stunning when the top gets refinished!
I spotted this on craigslist last night, but you know how crappy craigslist photos can fool ya...especially when you are really trying to be fooled. Oh how I wanted this to be a Knoll table base. The seller insisted that it is a Herman Miller base, but I find this attribution dubious.
When last we saw this lamp I had just brought it home from the flea market and I didn't have a bulb for it. I actually took the lamp with me to the hardware store to make sure I got the correct socket size...it was a weird one that I hadn't seen before. Well, it kinda pokes out but I think it's supposed to!
I still didn't have enough time to a really good job but I did get a chance to clean up the tops of these tables this afternoon. They came out pretty nice. Not perfect but better still. I used Howard's Walnut Restore-A-Finish and some 0000 steel wool and it really brought out the lovely color.
I still use my old smart phones for various duties including music player at work and WiFi mobile web browser at home. What the one at home gets used as the most is a lowly alarm clock. That was all it had to do this morning...wake me at 9:45am. Apparently it decided to "fall back" all by itself a couple days early!
While digging around the wares at a South County Goodwill I found this Magnavox Digital Video Recorder / DVD player - recorder...with a built in DTV tuner! This means that I can finally record Antenna TV again! And so much more.
