I just spotted this on C-list and had to share. This is the strangest Danish inspired sofa I've ever seen. Matter of fact, it might be the strangest thing I've seen on C-list in a while...Period!
We dropped in on the new Salvation Army thrift store in Florissant Saturday afternoon. The first time we dropped in was the Grand Opening and there wasn't really anything available worth waiting 20 minutes in line to pay for. Looks like they are getting back to the real work at hand.
I spotted this set of four really cool on craigslist about two weeks ago and while it looked to be an amazing deal at only $30 for the full set, I realized that I just didn't have a need for them or the room either. So I decided to pass the info onto you my amazing readership, with the request that if any of your bought them could you send me some pics.
I've been trying to get out in the morning on these beautiful spring days and get some work done on my various projects. Even though I cherish my 9 hours of sleep a night, it seems such a waste to sleep 'til noon Every day!
This floor lamp looked pretty rough when I spotted it at the Green Shag Market a little over a month ago but it was just so cheap. It had good bones as they say. I thought, even if I have to paint the metal it'll be worth taking home, but I was hoping that I could just clean it up and it would be fine. Well...
I do my best trying to help with these ID inquiries but sometimes fall short (Sorry Peter L. of BG Galleries! I'm glad you were able to find out what it was!). I feel like replying to inquiries without an answer kinda sucks and I'm always thinking I'm gonna post about the item if I can't find it myself. But then I forget. Well, here's one from Oh My Mod for ya!
This was just listed 7 hours ago. It's probably still available. No keywords in the ad. Looks like a Baumritter set to me. Pretty nice...better jump on it! Find the link inside!
Ok, so two of the chairs are spoken for and I'll be trading out one of my standard chairs for the armchair so it's really gonna be a four chair set with a drop leaf oval table dining set. It needs some love so it's not yet available but I thought I'd show it off anywayz.
It was not an epic haul Flea Market visit, but I still managed to suss out the good stuff. I was really only stopping there since I had to pick up a coffee table nearby anyway, so score or no...I was coming home with the goods one way or the other!
It's just elegant how easy it is to take the Herman Miller Chiclet sofa apart. Just 16 studs hold it together. And it only took one with a wrench to take it apart. Ah cha cha chaaa... (how cool am I?)
I just spotted this nice little set on craigslist for $65. I'm at my fill for dining sets (got like 5 or 6 complete sets!) and I did just score the McCobb piece. So here ya go! Link inside.
Yup, if you're local you mighta seen this pop up on StL. craigslist Saturday morning. After a quick check of my e-mail, the first thing I do in the morning is peruse the latest ads on c-list. When I spotted this I had to rub my blurry eyes a couple of times 'cuz the pic in the ad was kinda fuzzy...and surely I wasn't seeing that asking price correctly!
You've no doubt heard about or have seen the previews for the new Three Stooges movie. I'm no movie critic, and it might turn out to be really good...but if you want authenticity in your reproduction, check out this short put together by my good friend Kevin (as Curly) and other hard working St. Louis improv actors.
I wasn't sure if this was a genuine Herman Miller mug when the Girlfriend pointed it out at the Junque shop last weekend but I've spotted a few others on the web since. Neat, huh?! And since it doesn't say Herman Miller anywhere on it I can pretend it's a Broyhill Brasilia coffee mug too! I picked up a bag full of other smalls too. Wanna take a quick look?
This Overman swivel chair and ottoman popped up on craigslist Sunday night at 9:54pm and by 11:30 it was here at the Modtomic Ranch. I had spotted AND replied to the ad within 13 minutes of being posted. Just got lucky. I did an open search of all StL craigslist and it had JUST been listed.
I took a little look around the web the other day for "Artisan House" just after picking this up and found that this piece is still in production and that Artisan House and "Curtis Jere" are still going strong!
Need a terrarium starter kit? I prolly shoulda picked this up 'cuz I'd love to build a little terrarium garden some day and I know when I'm ready I'll have no idea where to find one of these. Guess I'll head back to the Wentzville Flea Market and hope for the best!
Mr. Modtomic gets requests for Mid Century Modern long coffee tables via craigslist quite often so I try to pick them up whenever I can. This one was a craigslist find Sunday but it needed a little love, and a little love it got.
I was hoping to have brought home another Drexel Declaration dining table and chairs Saturday after waiting outside all night to be the second in line but the price just wasn't right. After a nice long nap I awoke to find I had a reply to an e-mail that I had sent off the evening before about this Eames / Herman Miller Segment Base Table.
I've seen lots of these folding "card table" chairs at estate sales and thrift stores over the years but haven't ever been possessed of the desire to buy them...until this set! These are quality and have a certain style to them that elevates them above just folding chair status. But that's not all I picked up...and it wasn't what I sat outside the sale all night for.
A sign like this just wets Mr. Modtomic's appetite! I don't care if I find absolutely nothing. I just likes to get my diggin' on and a place such as this is just waiting to be mined! Won't you join the Mr. for a tour of the grounds?
Yup...messed up the name, but I fixed it! And on top of that, I didn't realize the joint just across the street was ALSO Ohmega Salvage! I thought they were two different businesses that just happen to have similar stuff. The thing is...the first place (on the west side of the street) has much nicer stuff...so it was an easy mistake to make! Wanna take a quick look around?
We made a little random road trip up through the Sonoma wine area north of San Fran while out west. Unfortunately it was a cloudy day but at least it was mid week and there were absolutely No crowds!
This place has some really beautiful vintage home restoration salvaged goods. If you are anywhere near by and are engaged in a restoration or retro-renovation this place should be on your short list. If they ain't got it, it looks like they might be able to find it.
I all but finished the cleanup of the Hans Olsen set of dining chairs that I picked up just before our little trip to San Francisco two weeks ago. That's got to be a record for Mr. Modtomic. I'm not real swift with the "project gettin' to's", but this one was so dang easy and yielded such purdy results! The chair on the left is done while the one on the right was waiting patiently.
Lots of times, when I'm looking for a comparable or an ID on a particular piece of furniture, I run across pictures from Uhuru Furniture and Collectibles. They get some great stuff and sell it for pretty cheap!
Just before we hit the friendly skies to visit central Cali. we stopped by Gus' shop Vandeventer Vintage. I just wanted to say hi and see how things were going as well as see what new items he had on the floor. He's been busy. Lots of great new stock litters the joint!
I'm pretty sure this is actually the Bay Bridge. I think we musta crossed this a half dozen times last week when we were in the area. I don't know...there are so many bridges around San Fransisco and they're building more. Anyway, this one of a pair of very nice Mod oil paintings that I've got "hanging" around.
I thought I'd died and gone to heaven...nope, I flied and gone to Cali! Yeah, unfortunately we flew to San Fran / Oakland, which I think was the Girlfriends secret plan to keep me from dragging too much stuff (any actually ::sob::) home with me. It KILLED me to leave this seriously cool console stereo behind but I didn't think it would fit in the overhead.
This quite large hula girl statue is ARTICULATED! The hips and grass skirt slowly swivel...hypnotizing any who dare to stop and stare. It's worth it. You're gonna get pretty "hypnotized" by all the amazing cocktails anyway.
I was gone most of last week so I took a bunch of pictures and uploaded them to Flickr before I left. This let me keep posting daily from "the road"...even though it wasn't really "the road" since we flew. I'm so not a fan of flying. I can't bring anything with me to sell or anything with me back home! It's like being bound and gagged!
You might remember this set of Hans Olsen for Frem Rojle danish dining chairs that I dropped a post about a few days back. I had just procured the set (from the localest of local Goodwills) and hadn't gotten a chance to so much as wipe them down. Well, I opened the Garage door this afternoon and they were easiest to grab.
The Girlfriend and I just got back from San Fran. / Oakland late last night. I'll have pics / posts soon. Unfortunately we flew...so I wasn't able to bring hardly anything home. Just pictures. Oddly enough...this GIANT angel sculpture by Whoopi Golderg and painted by Shag was HERE in St. Louis...not California!
I know...Deja Vu! Didn't I Just post about a lamp a few days ago? Yup. AND they both came from the same South City estate sale. Coincidence? I Don't Think So.
