Mr. Modtomic was contacted my an Apartment Therapy contributor a few days ago and was asked if he wouldn't mind allowing the use of the above photo for a posting. "Sure", I said, with the condition that a link be provided back here.
No, Mr. Modtomic didn't make the six hour drive (each way!) to Cincinnati OH for the Modernism Show. Luckily he had his Star Photog. woman on the scene, Kim (quinn) send him some phone pics! Oh, and a friend of mine up the street sent me a link to a Great set of YouTube videos that I'll bet you'll enjoy, too! Look inside!
Never mind that lil' bit of snow you see there, this place is warm and inviting! Better bring an empty car and fat wallet. You're gonna want to take LOTS of stuff home with ya! C'mon in, I'll show ya around.
Illuminate put me onto this sofa or mantle size print last Sunday (sorta). She had made a visit to the Goodwill in St. Charles and spotted it and says she immediately thought of me and that she would tell me all about it.
Yeah, I'm not sure if these are going to stick around. I've got plenty of tables already. But they sure are pretty. It'll be hard to let them go. You just don't see Formica such an amazing color very often. "What, white?", you ask? Oh now, you'll just have to look inside!
A really nice Frigidaire Flair sits just inside the front door! There's lots more contemporary or "new" items than vintage, but there's always Something good there.
This came with a HUGE long low Kent Coffey Perspecta dresser that left my possession long ago. The new owner didn't want the mirror so it's still available!
I'm just not sure how to describe these tables. I hesitate to call them Danish Modern, though I can't explain exactly why. They have a slight Atomic Age look to them but it's very subtle...and Atomic Age doesn't usually drip with subtlety, does it? Mid-Century Modern just seems to cover such a swath of styles.
I love the Metlox Poppytrail lines. The finish is great. It has a real organic look to it with the sorta matte finish. Metlox Poppytrail has lots of great patterns.
I spotted this table on a craigslist ad Thursday morning and tried to contact the seller but wasn't able to until after I got to work. Luckily, no one else snatched it up before me.
Having finally let go of the Console Stereo, I was able to move the Thayer Coggin sofa out of the MIDDLE of the livingroom / lounge and USE it! And OMG, this ain't like the other two sofas...this is the Luxury Sofa. Ever seen the movie Buffalo 66? "I'm used to Luxury Cars...have you ever heard of a Luxury Car, you know what Luxury means? Have you ever heard of Cadillac? Cadillac Eldorado? That's what I drive. I drive cars that Shift themselves." 14 minutes into the movie and it's one of the funniest, most "look at how much of a jerk I am" scenes ever. No "Shifter" cars for me, I drive a "Luxury" wagon!
This is the Globe I picked up at the South County antique mall yesterday. Looks good enough as just a globe. Just a regular ol' globe. Nice base though, that chrome is pretty sharp!
This is the first piece of Occupied Japan collectible swag that I've ever purchased. Got it for $3. No way, right? Eh, it's got a few cracks...so it's not too big a deal!
I picked this up off craigslist specifically for an acquaintance in New Orleans a while back. Sadly he had some bill issues and had to re-sell it. How often will you come across something this Mod-tastic?!
Yeah, that's right! This is another super comfortable Nap sofa! The seat is nice and flat. Or maybe it's cuz we all started out sleeping on a bed much like this. You know, simple thin mattress supported by taught springs. I can cut some "Z"s on this baby!
