Vintage Retro Silverware By Castle Stainless Steel. Status: Finally Found My Stash!

DSCN4880

I have some of this set of retro silverware pictured with a place setting of my Franciscan Starburst on my former Noguchi Cyclone cafe table (sold it last weekend) and have had a few inquiries about it.  I feel so guilty about getting to this only just now but I forgot where I put the set after shooting those pics!

So here we go...finally! The silverware is by Castle. Another "client" / new acquaintance of

mine has some of this displayed in their china cabinet with a nice collection of Salem

Northstar dinner ware. This baby blue color was so ubiquitous in the '50s and '60s that the

Castle silverware could match a myriad of different patterns and makers.

I found this cache of retro goodness at the Eureka Antique mall for the paltry sum of just $15.

At 32 pieces (I broke one...sad)...I'd call that a bargain, wouldn't you? Plus...I still have

another lot of these over at the Bungalow! I don't think I have as many pieces there and

None still in the original plastic sleeves but enough to help round out the set properly.

I couldn't find any pictures of Castle vintage plastic handle silverware like this (except for

Atomic Amour blog, which seems to have been abandoned) nor much info about it, so I

though I'd throw up a nice set of pictures and my little story about my collection. The only

other info I have to offer is that it was made in Japan. We've also been collecting Mar

Crest and similar styles of silverware. I'll shoot some pics of those and present them

another day.

  4. I have a set I'd really like to sell! I have no idea what to ask for them, the set includes: 1 butter knife, 9 knives, 8 spoons, 9 forks, 8 salad forks, 1 server, 6 soup spoons, 8 grapefruit spoons and 1 sugar spoon. Light green color in excellent condition, without plastic sleeves. Can you give me an idea of price and an outlet to where I might be able to sell them?

  5. We had this same set while growing up. There was not enough for every one of us so we would fight over who got to eat with them. I still have a small spoon and hide it when my sisters come over.
