How's About A Quick Look Through The Winchester VA Craigslist? Surely There Are Some Stylish Bargains To Be Had Up There? Status: Not My Turf!

Greetings from Winchester, Virginia - Large Letter Postcard

It's been a little over a week since we poked around someone else's back yard.  Let's stick our collective nose into the Winchester Virginia craigslist and see what truffles we can unearth!

Sm Mid-Century Modern Coffee Table- All Wood - $65 (Purcellville)

"This is a really nice mid-century modern coffee table that I picked up and refinished. It is solid wood, probably birch or ash (?) and was sanded, stained and finished to a nice satin finish, medium stain. Really pretty grain and solid, too. A couple of character scratches in the wood that didn't sand out but beautiful! The yellow glow in the close-up is the light reflecting off of it. It is a smaller table- perfect for an apartment or limited space It measures (approximately) 36" long by 18" wide by 15" tall. Email or text (540) Two-2-six-X-X-X-X to come see, no phone calls please. If you leave your number I will call you back if it is available. Cash only. Thanks."

Is that a Paul McCobb coffee table?

kitchen table - $20 (middle rd)

"White round kitchen table. Could seat 3 comfortably. $20 obo. must pick up"

Dang, seems like every one of these posts gets at least one Tulip Table!  Looks like the IKEA variant.

Kitchen table set - $150 (Oakton)

"Glass top kitchen table with four matching see through plastic chairs."

Dunno if it's vintage but it shore is sparkly! I like it.  I'd have it in my booth at The Green Shag Market gladly.

cypress end table - $50 (linden)

"very unique, $50 obo , cash ,calls only 540 683 XXXX, if ad is up then its still for sale, also have a cypress chair for sale in another ad. thank you"

Not a fan of the stump base but it can easily be removed and you could get some taper legs from the hardware store or from a thrift store table or go with hairpin legs!

Mahoghany Armoire and Matching End Table - $150 (Front Royal)

"have a Mahoghany Armoire and an end table that matches. There is an opening that measures 40"x26" and 3 drawers that measure 26"x8". There is also an end table that matches it that has two drawers that measure15"x26". I'm asking $150/OBO. Make me a god offer. I want gone ASAP. I can be reached via text (540)-683-XXXX"

Look at that Big Beautiful Brutalist Beast!  Think it's Lane?  Didn't another manufacturer do this Paul Evans style back then?  Doesn't matter, there's money left all over this!

coffee table/couch stand - $45 (winchester)

"Gold and glass"

I see tables like this attributed to Karl Springer all the time on 1stDibs.  Gotta be careful with what you read on these internets though.  Still, it's stylish.  It's also got a Ernest Trova feel.

Dining table chairs - $125 (Front Royal)

"Six brown modern dining chairs for sale. Dimensions: 34.1 " H x 17.8 " W x 20.0 " D"

At just a tad over $20 each, I'd call that a bargain...even though they are knockoffs.

  1. Not my back yard, but not a total haul either. I didn't even know Winchester had a separate Craigslist from DC's. Interesting. Might go after those Pyrex bowls. I saw a set of that pattern on Etsy recently for $90 and that didn't include shipping.

    1. Hi Alison.

Pyrex is still pretty easy to come by here in the STL. I should be loading up on it but it's just not really my thing. That seemed like a good deal and I know there are a lot of collectors out there. I was surprised by how many items I found given that it's a smaller craigslist. I bet you will be able to find lots of good deals there if you check it once in a while.

  2. As usual, nice finds! I agree the first table does look like a McCobb. The Acclaim table looks salvageable and with the Declaration chairs (even with the damage) it's definitely a score.

    1. Hi Rich.

Yeah, I'd so love to be able to snag that Acclaim / Declaration set. And I don't normally include many dealers in my scavenging but that one was too good to pass up!
