Feminine Aspects of Modern Design

Soft Kitty, Warm kitty, Little Ball of Fur. Happy kitty, Sleepy kitty, Purr, purr, purr.
Hello, It's Hannah again from the blog Secondhand. My last two posts have been about the Feminine aspects of modern design, and I'm going to continue in that direction.
I picked up this great cubist kitty at a local goodwill and It was love at first sight. Sometimes when your out thrifting it can be hard to spot the good amongst so much bad, but this kitty really stood on its own.

I believe it's by Jaru, California Ceramics. I have seen a few other cubist animals manufactured by Jaru, but have been unable to find this exact kitty.

There may be many real men out there that collect cats, but for some reason I feel the cat form calls to us ladies. This piece however perfectly combines the masculine, in the hard lines and coal black color, with a feminine subject matter. Great modern design, that both sexes can appreciate.

I know from reading the blog that Mr. Modtomic has a kitty collection, are there any other men out there that collect cats? Or does it remind you of the crazy cat lady?

  1. I agree that the piece combines masculine and feminine perfectly. The cat motif was so popular back then, and this is a great example.

  2. I really like that order holder in the background. Would make for a great place to leave to-do notes and such. I think that a new house tour is in order, Hannah!
