I Found Waldo. Well, A Painting BY Waldo...Z. Waldo That Is. Just Some More Delightful And Anonymous Late '60s Art. Status: Almost A Keeper.

I popped in to the Salvation Army the other morning before heading into work and this lovely lanscape painting (acrylic on canvas) was waiting for me to take it home.  I love rescuing stuff like this from the last place before the landfill.  Hopefully, I'll be able to foster it into a loving new home.

It may not be the most beguiling subject but the colors...oh look at those bright vibrant colors...that's

what makes this painting special.  There were lots of these made back in the day.  Heck, there still are...

in a manner.  You hear those commercials from time to time about "starving artists outlet at such and

such conference center".  That's where most of these come from except the furniture stores used to sell

them more.  I guess they still do, I don't know.  I don't frequent new furniture stores.  Probably the art

we see in places like Garden Ridge or Old Time Pottery will be looked at the same way in 50 years.

Some will dismiss it, lot's will hate it and a lucky few will be able to still see it's beauty and be overjoyed

to find it in a thrift store.

  1. This is by the same artist that painted the bright green and yellow ship painting you featured a while back. I bought it from you. I wonder if there is a local artist in the area that painted these. Did you find them in the same area or thrift?

  2. I picked up a gorgeous Z. Waldo painting at the local thrift shop the other day. I'd love to see the "green and yellow ship painting" mentioned above if you have a pic. Do we have any idea where this artist is from?

  3. I have a beautiful Z.Waldo that was left to me after my friend passed on. It was originally her mothers. It's a painting of daisies surrounded in a vibrant green grass background. There's some blue daisies painted along side the white ones. I would love to know more about the artist too. Mostly for sentimental reasons.
