Mr. Modtomic LOVES him some Brasilia. I'm always on the hunt for another piece and when I find the rare specimen it just makes my lil ol' heart go pitter patter pitter patter. So you know how overjoyed I was to spotted this gem while in the Ozarks.
According to The Cave Restaurant website this is the ONLY restaurant in the good ol' USofA that is located Inside a cave. And it SO is in a cave! And the steak is SO good. The road there sucks for sure but it's actually part of the rural charm. I highly recommend stopping by if you are ever headed down interstate 44 near Lebanon Mo.
Well, "Stayed" is a little optimistic since I'm writing from the room. Tomorrow it will be "stayed". But thus far we are happy with the joint. See the door on the sign? It constantly rotates! How fun is that?
I bought the chair with the idea of repairing it. It was cheap and other than the seatback being separated from the seat, it was in really great shape. The upholstery (vinyl) was in fine shape but the wood of the base was busted. Well, I already had the table top so...
Is that not a grand set of shelves? You see, I'll only put glass shelves in my booths at the antique malls as they let light through and make the items on them much more visible. I had some wood (ish) shelves in the booth at The Green Shag Market and was never happy with them.
I had to run to the True Value hardware store late this evening to get an appropriate bulb for this beast. It came sans bulb from the thrift and I really had no idea what type it was supposed to have. Thanks True Value Sales Guy! They's so smart 'n stuff.
This is a nice little lot and sometimes it's the little things that count. Of course, I found plenty of Big things lately too...and that's what pays the bills!
I just wanted some new socks. I wasn't looking to be surprised by a knock off of a fine danish modern seating unit. And anyway, why'd they only have one? That's just weird.
I didn't want to know so bad that I was going to flip these over to find a manufacturer name, but I'm thinking it might be Lane. It's hard to imagine these tables all cleaned up but whatcha think? Would you find these attractive if they were refinished?
Not sure if I'm going to keep this or offer it up to the masses. I feel like it's hard to let go of any of these original mid century modern paintings since it's becoming more and more difficult to find them.
When I dropped by the Green Shag Market last Sunday I took a little stroll around the mall with Karen (the owner) and just before leaving she asked if she could show me this piece she had just picked up. Oh crap. Of course, and just after getting a fat check.
Isn't this a fantastic little side table? I totally almost didn't get it too. I spotted it on C-list and shot off a note to the seller. They got back to me and said that it was already spoken for but that if the buyer flaked they'd gimme a hollah.
These pics are already a couple days old and I can't guarantee that any of these fantastic chairs are still available...especially this grey leather bouncy lounge chair. That is one good lookin' chair, and it was bargain priced IMHO. The Shag was closed Monday and Tuesday, so it might still be available!
Fresh from the land of Lincoln! This was the ONLY item in this little antique mall that made me look twice. Well, that's not entirely true...there was a few pieces of Russel Wright as well, but they were nowhere near my price range.
This place, Barrel Antique Mall Springfield Il., was a pleasant surprise. It's always nice to find a vendor in an antique mall hawking the Vintage Modern. Sometimes it's just a one or two...maybe a few...vendors with a piece or two available, but this place had booth after lovely booth of good stuff!
