Ah, The Necessities Of The Wino! Mr. Modtomic Isn't Much Of A Wine Connoisseur But I Do Like A Splash Of The Vino Now And Then. Now I Can Keep My Little Stash In Style! Status: More McCo/manoff.
Years ago, while at an antique mall in rural Missouri near Six Flags, I spotted a small wine rack made of steel round bar and leather. It was only about $12 and while I failed to buy it, the wine rack stuck in my brain. Maybe a week or two later I spotted a similar piece on eBay which described it as a Paul McCobb design. Of course I drove right back down to that antique mall as soon as I could, but alas...the rack was gone. Lesson learned. Desire cemented.

Did A Little Post X-Mas Shopping Down At Treasure Aisle This Evening. Picked Up Some Good Stuff And Took Some Photos Of Other Stuff. Wanna Check It Out? Status: Everybody Hold Hands So Nobody Gets Lost.
This amazing brutalist sculpture / centerpiece (?) was the first really cool thing we spotted today. It was pretty cool but...um, what is it? I like the base with all those Herman Miller / Brasilia looking bits braised together, but what's with all the wire bits...with nails (?) on the tips?

I Was Gonna Work In Some Sort Of "Basket Case" Play On Words Here, But Surely You're Above All That...And I Just Can't Seem To Find A Good One Anyway. Status: Basket Case...Couldn't Help It.
I love these wire basket center pieces. And of course they don't necessarily have to be used as center pieces. We've used the orange fiberglass one in the back as a catch-all at the front door for years. The long one in the foreground has been holding those seashells so long that I've forgotten what beach we sourced them from!

The Ray Wilkes Chiclet Sofa - Installed. It's So Nice To Be Able To Share The Living Environment With You Again! Sure, You've Seen This Sofa Before...But That Was In The Driveway! Status: Home At Last.
I gave you a brief preview of the living room / cocktail lounge area a few days ago just before our annual pre-Christmas party. You might have caught a look at this sofa / love seat then or you might have seen it back in February just after I picked it up from a strange "estate sale".

Not Much Going On Christmas Day. Not Like I'm Heading Out To The Thrifts Or Anything. Well, I Did Go To The Movies - The Hobbit. So It's Just Some Smalls Today. Status: Shrugg.
Yeah, haven't picked up much the last couple days. Found this lot last weekend but only just now got around to photographing it. Tiki mugs and Silver Foliage serving pieces. Goes together like...beets and...gravy. But somehow it all seems to work.

Today's C-list Adventure Turned Up A John Van Koert Designed Drexel Profile Dining Table And 6 Chairs. It's Solid And An Excellent Candidate For Refinish Or Use As Is. Status: Freshly Picked.
Last evening I was poking around the various craigslists in the area just on the off chance that I might find a couple more danish dining chairs to go with the Frem Rojle pair I featured yesterday. I was plugging "Dining Chairs" into the search boxes and scavenging through the lists when this Drexel Profile set popped up! It had languished there for more than 9 days, unsold.

I Know This Looks Like A Re-Run Of The Frem Rojle Teak And Rope Chairs But I Assure You It Is Not. Those Are Long Gone And I Just Picked These Up Today! Status: Awaiting Cleanup.
I trotted out this morning planning on making the rounds of the thrifts then stopping by the Green Shag to take stock. I often overlook one tiny little antique mall here in North County called Florissant Old Town Marketplace. Stopped by today between thrifts and was rewarded with a bargain pair of Frem Rojle / Hans Olsen danish dining chairs.

I've Never Gotten An Opportunity To Properly Showcase The New Bar and Erik Buck Bar Stools In The Home. Cleaning Out The Living Areas Properly For The Party Last Weekend Finally Made It Possible. Status: In Their Natural Environment!
Yeah, there's a little mess back there behind the bar still. Neat freaks we are not. I wish I was more embarrassed by it but obviously I'm just not. Maybe just a little...I mean, I am writing about it, right? That's a step in the right direction...let's say.

Wow! Talk About Service With A Smile! The Proprietors At The Green Shag Not Only Had To Dig Out The Sater Sofa, But They Also Took The Time And Effort To Seriously Re-arrange My Space To Fill The Void! Status: Appreciative!
I stopped by the Green Shag Market this morning before work to check the state of my booth since I knew the Sater leather sofa was sold and was supposed to be picked up this week and the spider leg table was also gone. I wanted to see what kinda situation I was going to have to deal with this weekend.

State Of The Union...Or What Was Buried Under All That Mess. Nightmare Before Christmas Party Tonight, Had To Clean Up. Took Some Pics Of The Joint. Status: Believe It Or Not - Much Better.
Tonight was our annual "Nightmare Before Christmas" party that we throw between Thanksgiving and Christmas every year as a way for all our friends to have a break from family obligations and such. The living spaces in the house have been in such a major disarray that it took a LOT more effort to get the house into some semblance of order, or at least enough so that it wasn't Totally embarrassing.

Snapped Up Another Scandinavian Rocker On My Way To The Green Shag Monday. I Couldn't Help Myself. It Popped Up On C-list Just As I Was Walking Out The Door. Status: Lack Of Self Control.
But, my lack of self control will soon be someone else's gain! You see, someone else might have dropped by to pick this up if I hadn't but then realized that it's got some issues and passed on it, where as I was in such a hurry (on my way to The Shag to drop off Broyhill Brasilia drop leaf dining table, remember?) that I barely gave it a once over. While lamenting my inability to find and or identify vintage Christmas ephemera on Saturday at a local thrift, we turned a corner and came face to face with Santa and Frosty! Just like that (::snaps fingers::)! And while these might have been made later, they are marked 1968 AND Made in the USA.

Mr. Modtomic Puts His Money (And A Bit Time, Effort, Travel) Where His Mouth Is! Status: Already Gone!
A couple weeks ago, in the Tuscon episode of "Not My Turf" craigslist search, I found a leather sofa being proffered for $120. I made it clear that if it weren't so far away that I'd have happily purchased it. Then via Mr. Modtomic's super smart readership I found out it was from the dreaded IKEA and that it's called the Sater sofa. Well guess what popped up on the StL. craigslist last night!

Once Again I Had To Drop By The Green Shag Market This Afternoon. Snapped Some Pics Of Other Stuff And Noticed Some Changes. Status: New Arrivals / Departures.
Another vendor has had quite a week of changes, much like myself and I thought that since I was in the neighborhood I'd snap a couple quick pics to let you in on them. While I was re-arranging my space last weekend she and I had a discussion of booth arrangement and she told me about this great bedroom set she was about to spring on us. Wanna check it out?

After Rearranging My New Booth Space Saturday I Had Just Enough Time To Go Through A Couple Downtown Thrifts. Found More Silver Foliage Libbey and A Beautiful Syphon Selzer Bottle. Status: Silver And Glass And A Touch Of Class.
I spent so much of Saturday trying to fine tune Booth 5 at The Green Shag that I didn't leave much time to do my normal trap checking. I did finally make it to the "new" Salvation Army thrift on Forest Park Pkwy and of course hit the Goodwill directly across the street. I found a new trap and hit one other. Yesterday I Mentioned That I Picked Up More Than Those Amazing And Rare Salterini Leather Chairs And The Spider Table. I Also Managed To Find An Eames / Miller Shell Chair, A Warming Serving Cart And A Beautiful Royal Heager Ashtray. Status: Available!
I didn't manage to get the ashtray priced and placed in my new booth space (number 5 now) at The Green Shag Market but I did get the rest of these beautiful vintage modern goodies down to the shop. Even after making a special effort to get up at the crack of 10am I still just barely managed to get these photos taken get everything cleaned up, loaded up and down to the antique mall in time to make it to work.
