So Between Exploring "The Strip" At The Lake Of The Ozarks And Having A Wonderful Meal In A Cave (See Yesterday's Post!) I Managed To Fit A Little CraigsPicking In And Wound Up With This Super Rare Broyhill Brasilia Bookcase. Status: Available!
Mr. Modtomic LOVES him some Brasilia. I'm always on the hunt for another piece and when I find the rare specimen it just makes my lil ol' heart go pitter patter pitter patter. So you know how overjoyed I was to spotted this gem while in the Ozarks.

After An Early Morning Wake Up Call (OK, Alarm On Phone) At The Golden Door Motel Today And Some Craigslist Shopping In Springfield Mo. We Stopped At The Cave Restaurant In Richland Mo. Yup, A Restaurant IN A CAVE! Status: Well Fed!
According to The Cave Restaurant website this is the ONLY restaurant in the good ol' USofA that is located Inside a cave. And it SO is in a cave! And the steak is SO good. The road there sucks for sure but it's actually part of the rural charm. I highly recommend stopping by if you are ever headed down interstate 44 near Lebanon Mo.

We Got A Little Crazy Today And Jumped Into The Car For A Little Road Trip. We Ended Up At The Golden Door Motel At The Lake Of The Ozarks And Are Having A Ball! Status: Stayed.
Well, "Stayed" is a little optimistic since I'm writing from the room. Tomorrow it will be "stayed". But thus far we are happy with the joint. See the door on the sign? It constantly rotates! How fun is that?

We Took A Little Drive To Fairview Heights To Check The Antique Mall And While In The Area I Found A Chrome Tulip Base Chair That Was Beyond Repair. Status: Donor!
I bought the chair with the idea of repairing it. It was cheap and other than the seatback being separated from the seat, it was in really great shape. The upholstery (vinyl) was in fine shape but the wood of the base was busted. Well, I already had the table top so...

I Dropped Some Amazing Chrome And Glass Shelves In The Booth / Room (307) At The Antique Mall Of Creve Coeur This Evening. These Are The Coolest Shelves I've Come Across For The Booth So Far. Status: Cleaned And Installed
Is that not a grand set of shelves? You see, I'll only put glass shelves in my booths at the antique malls as they let light through and make the items on them much more visible. I had some wood (ish) shelves in the booth at The Green Shag Market and was never happy with them.

While Out On My "Rounds" Over The Weekend I Plucked This Big, Heavy, Fantastic Desk Lamp. It Didn't Have A Bulb In It And I Couldn't Test It...But It Was Worth Taking A Chance On. Status: It Works!
I had to run to the True Value hardware store late this evening to get an appropriate bulb for this beast. It came sans bulb from the thrift and I really had no idea what type it was supposed to have. Thanks True Value Sales Guy! They's so smart 'n stuff.

Check Out Some Cool Smalls I Harvested Over The Last Couple Days From The Local Thrifts. Gotta Keep Them Shelves Filled In The Antique Mall Booths. Status: Gettin' Tagged.
This is a nice little lot and sometimes it's the little things that count. Of course, I found plenty of Big things lately too...and that's what pays the bills!

Saturday Night The Girlfriend Not Only Dragged A Mr. To See Some Young Adult Book Turned Movie (Divergent) But To TJ Maxx And Marshalls Too. A Danish Barstool? Yup. The Most Danish Of Danish Barstools! Status: ...At Least In Design.
I just wanted some new socks. I wasn't looking to be surprised by a knock off of a fine danish modern seating unit. And anyway, why'd they only have one? That's just weird.

Hot Or Not? We Stopped By A Couple Of Goodwills Today And I Spotted This Interesting Living Room Table Set, But I Couldn't Really Tell If This Is Something That's Up And Coming Or If It's An Easy Pass. Status: Whatcha Think?
I didn't want to know so bad that I was going to flip these over to find a manufacturer name, but I'm thinking it might be Lane. It's hard to imagine these tables all cleaned up but whatcha think? Would you find these attractive if they were refinished?

The Only Thing I Found At The Belleville Flea Last Weekend Was This Comely Le Renoux Painting. ::Shrug:: It Was The First Flea Of The Season. You Can't Expect The Magic Right Away! Status: Hmmm...Undecided.
Not sure if I'm going to keep this or offer it up to the masses. I feel like it's hard to let go of any of these original mid century modern paintings since it's becoming more and more difficult to find them.

Well, I Finally Went And Did It. I Plonked Down The Cash (And No Small Amount Either) For A Curtis Jere Birds. What The Heck Is Wrong With Me These Days? This Is The Second Time I Dropped More Scratch Than I Normally Would For A Curtis Jere Piece Of Art! Status: Project.
When I dropped by the Green Shag Market last Sunday I took a little stroll around the mall with Karen (the owner) and just before leaving she asked if she could show me this piece she had just picked up. Oh crap. Of course, and just after getting a fat check.

This Is The Little Table That Brought The Girlfriend And I Up To The Springfield Il. Last Weekend. It's Glass And Lucite And Gots A Bit Of A Swirl Going On. Status: Available.
Isn't this a fantastic little side table? I totally almost didn't get it too. I spotted it on C-list and shot off a note to the seller. They got back to me and said that it was already spoken for but that if the buyer flaked they'd gimme a hollah.

Haven't Been By The Green Shag Market In A While? Ohhhh...Look At All The Pretty Chairs You're Missing! Better Get Down There If Ya Likin' What Ya Seein'. Status: Available.
These pics are already a couple days old and I can't guarantee that any of these fantastic chairs are still available...especially this grey leather bouncy lounge chair. That is one good lookin' chair, and it was bargain priced IMHO. The Shag was closed Monday and Tuesday, so it might still be available!

On Our Little Visit To Springfield Over The Weekend We Found A Tiny Little Antique Mall Called, Oddly Enough, Springfield Antique Mall. This Gorgeous Little Lane Side Table Was Waiting For Me There And Mr. M Was Happy As A Clam To Bring It Home! Status: Available!
Fresh from the land of Lincoln! This was the ONLY item in this little antique mall that made me look twice. Well, that's not entirely true...there was a few pieces of Russel Wright as well, but they were nowhere near my price range.

Saturday Was Mostly Spent On The Road Messing Around Central Illinois. We Started Out At The Belleville Flea Market And Ended Up In Springfield Illinois At The Barrel Anique Mall. Status: Tons Of Good Stuff!
This place, Barrel Antique Mall Springfield Il., was a pleasant surprise. It's always nice to find a vendor in an antique mall hawking the Vintage Modern. Sometimes it's just a one or two...maybe a few...vendors with a piece or two available, but this place had booth after lovely booth of good stuff!

The Barrel Antique Mall? Don't let that rustic down home name fool you. I found a set of Four Thayer Coggin / Milo Baughman Orange and Chrome armchairs here...along with booth after booth filled...neah, STUFFED with Vintage Modern goodness.

So these were actually two different lots from the same vendor. I wasn't sure if I needed the Gravy Boat but I wanted that ladle. The salt and pepper shakers where a shot in the dark too. Turns out I needed 'em.

After Finding A Trio Of Loose Lids A Few Days Ago At The Thrift Store I Got Busy Looking For Some Corresponding Lidless Corning Ware Buffet Server Pots. Alas, No Luck. Status: Well, Some Luck.
Since I was in the Columbia Missouri area anyway I went ahead and stopped by the Midway Antique Mall again. Last time there I picked up a nice Broyhill Brasilia 5 drawer chest that didn't last a little minute back here in my booth at Creve Coeur. No big scores there this time, but I did find a few pieces of Buffet Server!

There Are A Number Of Big Antique Malls In Or Near Columbia Missouri And Whenever I Take A Pickin' Trip Out That Way I HAVE To Stop In And See If Maybe I Can Better The Day's Take. This Time I Picked Up This Big Curtis Jere Bird Of Prey Sculpture. Status: Nice Bonus, Right?!
Even when I'm getting a decent deal I still find it hard to buy from an antique mall. Now, when I'm getting a steal I have no problem at all...but it wasn't easy to part with my hard earned cash to procure this quite impressive C. Jere Bird Sculpture.

I Realize This Recliner Looks Black...But Alas It Is Not. Dark Blue. I Also Realize It Bears A Striking Resemblance To Many Of The Milo Baughman Designs...But I'm Not Sure It's A Valid Attribution. But You Never Know. New Attributions Come To Light All The Time. Status: Recent Acquisition.
Another roadtrip to Columbia Mo. today yielded some tasty goodies. Featured this time is a luxurious leather and chrome steel recliner, or as I like to call it...nap chair. This was listed on craigslist but not in the usual Furniture section. I found it on the Household list and while I usually discount anything like this that is listed as being leather...the seller was spot on.

Dropping By The Antique Mall Of Creve Coeur To Pay The Rent And Pick Up Last Months Check Paid Off In More Than One Way This Afternoon. Not Only Did A Hustla Get Paid, But He Also Snagged A Fantastic Grete Jalk End Table For Peanuts! Status: Who Needs Estate Sales.
The plan for this fine Saturday morning was to get up early enough to be at an estate sale just before opening. The sale had lots of neat Vintage Modern goodies to be had, but nothing I couldn't live without...so it wasn't a "stake out" situation. Then that damn alarm went off...and then just got turned off. Mornings? No thanks.

It's a mess and these photographs suck, but you get the gist. As you can see there are a number of brass rivets missing and the leather itself isn't in the greatest condition...but the bones are good and it was worth the long drive to retrieve!

Because Of The Lousy Weather Over The Weekend I Got Lucky And Was Afforded The Opportunity To Snatch This Industrial Style Factory Cart Coffee Table Today. But Was It That Easy...Of Course Not. Status: Still...It's Available.
This lovely...wait, that's not quite the right word, this is far too masculine for a word like "lovely". This...gnarly(?) factory cart popped up on craigslist over the weekend and for some reason I didn't bite. Maybe the seller lowered the price or something but when I spotted it again on Monday, I just had to have it. She told me she had a couple buyers lined up over the weekend but they all bailed due to the bad weather. Lucky me!

Heh, I know I'm only showing one, but I have a pair of these little retro hoop chairs. I've had them for a couple of years and have always had plans to make new seats and upholster them...but like so many plans...well, you know. As Promised (On The Twitter), I Got Some Good Pics Of The Chesterfield That I Picked Up During The Week. This One Is SOOOO Close! It's A Nicer Vinyl Than Usual...It Almost Passes For Leather, And It's So Comfy. But Alas, I Still Want Leather So This One Too Is Headed To The Booth. Status: Available.
Whowee! That's a good lookin' Chesty, right?! That Oxblood Red is just the right color for a vintage Chesterfield. Of course, it's vintage so it isn't perfect, but it's in pretty good shape none the less. It was missing a bun foot on the back but I've already got that covered.
