Aaaaand Here It Is! Yup, It Was The Green Milo Baughman Recliner. Status: One In - One Out.
Even as found, this was the major score from the Gypsy Caravan. I'd have to say this might have been the best deal at the entire flea market that day! As you can see in the pictures from the sale that day, it was stuck in the middle of somewhat incongruous offerings...and perhaps - lucky for me - well hidden by them!

Poor Frank, He Sometimes Gets Used As (Very) Temporary Storage. This Beautiful American Of Martinsville China Cabinet Had To Spend The Night In The Wagon. Status: Cleaned Up And Ready To Go!
This actually WAS a tough fit for Frank. It wouldn't have been if I'd filled him a little different. I put the bottom cabinet in first, ostensibly because it's heavier (open to debate) and then the hutch on top of that. Well, Franks cargo area is a bit more narrow at the top than at the bottom, so it took a little angling and wiggling to get that hutch in there!

Hope You All Had As Epic A Long Weekend As I Did! Memorial Day Monday? Gypsy Caravan! Status: Sunny And Warm!
The Gypsy Caravan is a once a year flea market that sets up on the University of Missouri St. Louis Campus. It's fenced off and a $10 entrance fee ($20 early bird) is collected for the St. Louis Symphony. It's like a donation...I guess. The key is to buy enough stuff so that the $10 seems inconsequential! Mission accomplished.

We Left The Salvation Army And The Sold Set Of Brasilia Behind Stopping At The Goodwill With A Sour Puss Only To Find... Status: Blam!
This AMAZING retro lamp helped to ease the pain of missing out on the Brasilia bedroom set yesterday. This is, hands down, the BEST lamp I've ever found at the thrift stores...and I've found plenty!

Somebody Beat The Mr. To It! Somebody Should Be VERY Happy! Just Not Me. Status: Well Ain't That Just A Kick In The Pants.
I spotted this set of Broyhill Brasilia from behind and as I came around the corner and recognized the nightstand a surge of adrenaline rushed though my veins! Then I spotted the "Sold" tags...one after another. Dang.

Guess What I Saw Down At The South County Antique Mall Today! Double Witco! Status: Still There / Left Behind.
I was super suprised to see some Witco action at one of our local antique malls today. Actually, for some reason, I'm always surprised to find Witco anywhere. Weird. This time the price is right between the piece I found at the flea market in Wentzville and the piece I found at the flea market in Belleville!

Our Sunday Thrift Outing Revealed A Couple Of Nice Items. One For My Booth - One For Mother Modtomic's Booth. Status: Available June 2 (at the parking lot sale Green Shag Market blah blah blah)
What is it now...9 days and counting? This little beauty - along with much else - will be made available at the big arse Parking Lot Sale at the Green Shag Market on Saturday June 2. I was gonna bring that china cabinet from Wednesday but it go bye bye today. Not to worry, there will still be plenty of other goodies to be had. Like this purdy lil Quartite Lamp!

So What Did Mr. Modtomic Scrounge Up At The Belleville Flea Market? Just Couple Of Smalls. Status: Need Some Tiki In Your Life?
It don't seem like much, but the stuff ads up! 'Cuz of course I found some more stuff the next day at the thrift store. But this is the lot from the Belleville Flea market, well...this and the Teak / Glass end tables I featured a few days ago.

Just Look At This Majestic Lane "Perception" China Cabinet. Don't You Need This Modestly Sized Display Piece? Status: Just In And (Holy Cow!) Already Gone.
Sunday proved fruitful even though there was some rain in the afternoon. I managed to get the pair of teak and glass end tables cleaned up and photographed for the blog AND I made a little trip down to south city to pull this out of a basement that the owner needed cleaned out for incoming renters. Yup, basement booty!

Yet ANOTHER Good Reason To Visit Belleville Ill. On A Regular Basis! Stumbled Upon My Vintage Addiction While Shopping The Shops On The Square. Status: Lucky Me!
There are like four or five great reasons to put Belleville on your list of places to kill a Saturday. The Skyview Drive In theater is my personal favorite. There's the monthly flea market at the fairgrounds on the third full weekend of the month. Don't forget Big Mama's Barbeque...get the "Uncle Ken's UNBELIEVABLY BIG JUMBO Pork Steak" and I assure you, you won't forget! There are a number of vintage and second hand shops all down both East and West Main and My Vintage Addiction seems to be the newest attraction.

Picked Up Some Dirty Dirty DIRTY (Mr. Mod. Likes It Dirty) Little Tables At The Belleville Flea Market Saturday. Let's See If They'll Clean Up Enough To "Take Home To Mother". Status: Did I Mention "Dirty"?
Ever "pass" on an item(s) at a flea market, thrift or antique mall thinking "if it's still there when..." only to find yourself either relieved or disappointed that it disappeared before you got back around to it? This happened a couple of times to me Saturday, but not with these filthy things.

Got Up Early And Made My Way To The Belleville Flea Market This Morning. Status: Beautiful Day For A Flea.
It did get a little warm out today but not so much as to compare with the usual St. Louis mid summer super humid misery. Nope, it was just a taste of Summer. Speaking of taste, here's a little taste of the Belleville Flea Market!

Oh My Stars! What's This? More Franciscan Starburst Dinnerware For The China Cabinet? Yes, Virginia...Craigslist Does Provide! Status: Taken.
A nice lot of Franciscan Starburst dinnerware popped up on craigslist a few days ago and although not stupid bargain priced, I thought for sure they would be snatched up tout de suite. I even called a friend of mine who also collects the Starburst (Illuminate) to give her a heads up as her collection isn't yet as sizable as Mr. Modtomic's.

Just Incase You Missed The Big News Yesterday, Mr. Modtomic Goes Legit! An "Antique" Mall Space Waits To Be Filled With Modtomic Goodness! Status: Little Scared.
Here we go. I'm dipping a toe into the Antique Mall sellin' waters! I just got word that a space had (finally) opened up here at the Green Shag Market after putting an application in months ago. This is also the location of the upcoming Green Shag Parking Lot sale where I will setting up on June 2nd. Don't worry, I'll probably remind you a couple of times (a day).

Need A Hand? Can I Offer You A Seat? Status:On Craigslist.
Don't you just love all the crazy stuff you can find on craigslist? I've never really been all that enamored of these retro hand chairs but maybe you are, and this looks like a good deal. Look for the link inside!
It Is Unfortunate That I will Only Be Able To Bring Two Wagonloads Of Stuff To The Big Green Shag Parking Lot Sale. Status: Bursting At The Seams!
As you can see, it's right up to the door! Lot's of this is project material that I've just not gotten to yet. I'm hoping to get a few of those done in the next 16 days so as to offer them at the big Modtomic Lot Sale at the Green Shag Market.

There Must Be Tons Of Walnut Trees In Yugoslavia. Picked Up A Dano/Slavic Modern Magazine Rack Sunday. Status: Cleaned Up And Ready For The Sale!
More thrift harvest for the big Parking Lot Sale coming up soon! Stopped by the Goodwill downtown and picked up this orphaned Slavic Modern walnut magazine rack. It needed some Modtomic love and that's just what it got.

Mr. Mod. Makes A Pass Through MoMod. Mothers Day On The South Side. Status: Fresh Stock.
The Girlfriend and I met with the Moms downtown this (late) morning for a Mothers Day brunch. Good foods were had and the weather was just nice enough that we were able to sit outside. The getting out of bed early (Mr. Modtomic is so not a morning person) kinda kicked my butt, but I still had just enough juice left to make a little trip to the MoModerne showroom in South City.

Picked Up Some More "Stock" Today. Not Much Else Going On...Spent The Day Mother's Day Shoppin'. Status: "Mall"ed Out.
This was it for vintage finds today. We hit the thrifts on Lindbergh (North Co.) almost as an afterthought and I'm sure they had been thoroughly scavenged before we made our way there. We did find the Home Goods "store" though, where one can purchase new Verichron clocks.

Yard Art. Well....On A Monumental Scale Anyway. Status: Ever Been?
I've always loved the Gateway Arch and the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, even way WAY before I knew who Eero Saarinen was or what Modernism meant! I've only been up to the top once and unfortunately it was all cloudy and foggy. But I love just strolling the grounds.

More Weekly Finds From The Flea Market And Treasure Aisle. Status: Clock, Art, Tiki!
I actually picked up this George Nelson "Ball Clock" reproduction (by Verichron) early last week when I took some time off work and made a quick stop at one of the two awesome antique malls on Big Bend rd. Both often feature great Vintage Modern finds but I only had a couple of minutes to kill so I made a quick run through Treasure Aisle. Lucky me, I found this clock at a reasonable price.

This Was A Really Good Weekend. Saturday Had Good Pickin's And The Drive In. Sunday, The Auction And I Picked Up Some Lighting At The Flea Market. Status: Smiles All Around!
OK, so it was "middle of summer" hot and humid here in the StL all weekend and there were plenty of thunder showers spread around but still, it was a super if not epic weekend. Two days, two fun events...Gus' auction and the Drive In movies. Two days, two scores...the Eames table Saturday and on Sunday, these.

The Auction At Vandeventer Vintage Sunday. Did You Make It? Status: Lots Of Buyers.
We got a late start this morning and scavenged the Wentzville Flea Market and in doing so almost missed the Vintage Modern Auction at Vandeventer Vintage. We still managed to miss maybe the first 20 minutes. I had already scored some good stuff at the flea market so I was set. I just wanted to see how it would go...and report to you!

Skipping The Estate Sale Scene Again This Weekend But Still Finding Good Stuff To Make Available. Status: Aluminum Groupie?
I just picked this up today and didn't even have to get up early! The estate sales lately have been getting too pricey for me to venture out in the wee hours to be first in line, just to find everything overpriced. I did have to break a sweat though...it has finally gotten H..O..T here in the StL.

Let's "Toast" To The Weekend! Found Another T20B Sunbeam Automatic Toaster At The Thrift Store! Status: Mirror Finish Shiny.
I found yet another Sunbeam fully automatic toaster down at the Goodwill last weekend. It was (as usual) a mess. I gave it my usual quick going over with Goof Off and it shined up real nice. It's not perfect but unless you find one "New In Box", finding a perfect one is pretty hard.

Woke up Monday morning and checked c-list as per usual. Nothing really jumped out at me. Moved the trash cans away from the street, looked again...nothin'. Pulled some laundry out of the dryer, checked one more time (for good measure...or 'cuz of the OCD, you decide) and BAM there it was!
