We Wrapped Up Our Vacation In Canton TX First Monday Flea Market Today By Just Barely Missing A Thunderstorm. Otherwise The Weather All Weekend Was Perfect! Status: Headed Home.
When we arrived this morning the skies were still cloudy but the rain had ended hours ago. Good thing, since we were already pretty beaten down by walking the copious flea market grounds pretty thoroughly the previous two days and weren't up for any inconvenience. Beaten Down...the place is Huge.

Wow, It's Turning Out To Be An Eames / Herman Miller Haul Weekend Here In Canton TX.! I'm Snatching Up Other Various Smalls As Well, But It's All Eames That's Filling Frank Up. Status: Still Got A Little Room!
I spotted this table still loaded up on a trailer last evening just as we were leaving. I was hoping to get to the sale early enough this morning that I'd be able to grab it up before anybody else noticed it. Well...things didn't work out quite like that, but they DID work out!

We Made It To Texas Last Night...Got Up Early And Have Already Started Filling The Car. Scores So Far. Status: Flea Mkt. Heaven!
Sunset is my favorite part of the day. Actually, the last hour of sunlight is what I love. Photographers call it the "Golden Hour" and it's when you get that amazing light that travels through so much of the Earth's atmosphere that it heightens all the colors. So of course I had to take a photo while driving. Don't do this...ever. But do click through and check out a couple of my Thursday First Monday Flea Market Scores!

More Smalls That Have Been Accumulating In The Back Of Frank. You Ever Do That? Find A Box Or Bag Of Goodies You Forgot About In The Car? Status: Bonus!
Some of this stuff has only been in the back of Frank (the Focus Wagon) for a few days...OK, maybe a week, or two)...but some of it, dunno...maybe since last summer! I was cleaning out the car for a roadtrip and brought all this inside...to make room for more!

Pop That Bottle Sir And Let's Have A Glass Of The Vino! Make Mine Chardonnay. I Picked Up This Pretty Little Painting For My Mom's Part Of The Shop. Status: More Smalls.
I found a couple of nice pieces of art over the weekend that'll soon make their way to the shop along with another nice set of cut glass starburst juice glasses.

Holy Crap. It Snowed. It Snowed...A LOT. What A Difference A Day Can Make! Still, I Had To Get This Cool Looking 9 Drawer Dresser Out Of Frank To Shoot Some Pics. Status: Lots Of Shoveling (and the dresser is already gone)!
Good lord. Isn't it Spring yet? We got another record one day snow fall here in the StL last night. We had to shovel the driveway...TWICE! The good news is that it was plenty warm the day before and it was just above freezing today so it's melting and the streets are pretty much cleared off up here in North County.

You Might Have Noticed This Eames Lounge And Ottoman KNOCKOFF (oops, sorry forgot that earlier!) Lurking In The Background Of One Of Yesterday's Photos. Yesterday It Was 50 And Sunny...Today 30 And 6 Inches Of Snow. Status: Will Winter Ever End?
Yup, another project chair. This one was heaped upon me, too. I got an e-mail through my craigslist ad asking if I'd be interested in an Eames chair and ottoman that had had it's "leather" dyed black. I was intrigued and hopeful so I replied asking for a couple of photos. While I was somewhat disappointed, I wasn't surprised by what I saw.

Bonus Craigslist Score. Check Out This Amazing Retro Tension Pole Lamp That I Picked Up When I Got The Pearsall Biomorphic Coffee Table Thursday. It's Definitely One Of The Coolest I've Ever Seen. Status: To Keep Or Flip...That Is The Question.
Don't these look like onion bulbs? I guess it makes sense...in a play on words sorta way...since they put out light, you know...like a bulb. Aaaaanyway, I managed to get THESE shades home without breaking even a one of 'em.

Ahab Had His Great White Whale...I Had This. I've Missed Out On A Number Of Pearsall Coffee Tables In The Last Few Years But I've Finally Netted This Fine Catch. Status: Headed To Da Fish Market. Update - GONE!
Last night, just before shutting down the old (nearly antique, by computer standards!) PC, I thought I might peruse C-list one last time before heading off to bed. Good thing too, cuz this Adrian Pearsall biomorphic coffee table was a waitin' on me there! I shot off an e-mail to the seller and shuffled off to sleepy town, hoping for the best.

Another Rosewood Dining Loveliness Acquisition. This Dyrlund Lotus "Flip Flap" Dining Table Was Not What I Was After, But It Came Along For The Ride! Status: Magnificent, and already gone.
Over the weekend I managed to acquire a set of very fine Rosewood Kai Kristiansen dining chairs for our humble abode. Part of that score was this also very fine Rosewood Lotus table manufactured by Dyrlund. You might think me crazy, but this is not a keeper. I'm far to enamored of my Florence Knoll dining table to give it up.

The Flea Market Season Is Upon Us And Here's My First Batch Of Loot To Prove It! Status: Ahhhh...Spring!
Unfortunately, it wasn't really Spring like weather. Friday the temps were up into the high 60s low 70s. Saturday morning the temp was maybe 40 and it just got colder all day long. Then it rained...then sleeted...and snowed a little. If I hadn't scored so much good stuff over the weekend I'd have been irritated!

This Is How A Collection Starts. Problem Is, I've Already Built This Collection! More Sunbeam Mixmasters. Status: Lagniappes!
I've had the "extra" pink mixer and all these bowls for a while but I just picked up the yellow Sunbeam Mixmaster just a few days ago. When I find one of these at a reasonable price I just can't help myself, I have to pick it up! In my defense I really, really thought I had an extra set of yellow bowls, not turquoise!

A While Back Mr. Modtomic Scored His Dream Dining Table But Wondered If He'd Ever Find The Right Chairs To Surround It With. Done! Kai Kristiansen #42...Meet Florence Knoll And Oscar Niemeyer (Via Broyhill). Status: Strange Bedfellows?
(Dag, I gotta clean that carpet.) Another "keeper". Actually; "set of keepers"! I think I've found the chairs that will permanently grace our dining room. I can't imagine finding a cooler set than these Kai Kristiansen / Schou Andersen Rosewood dining chairs...Ever!

'Tis Been A Weekend Of Project Procurement Here At Mr. Modtomic. It All Started Friday Night After Work When I Picked Up This Danish Style Lounge Chair. Status: Late Night Pickup.
Like I really need more projects around here, but you know the old adage: Strike While The Iron Is Hot. My greatest fear is that C-list does something stupid to ruin itself and that well runs dry. I feel much more comfortable with a buffer of "stuff" should disaster strike.

Frank The Focus Wagon Finally Met His Match. It Was Rainy And Cold Out So I Did Some Measuring BEFORE Dragging This Sofa Out To The Car. Status: Called For Backup.
It looked a lot smaller in the ad. It never even entered my mind that it wouldn't fit into the back of the wagon! I've hauled refrigerators in the back of my Focus Wagon. Frank is...let's say...sizable. Cavernous even. But it was defeated by a combination of inclement weather and an awkward physical arrangement.

If I Didn't Have Three Other Fireplaces Here At The Modtomic Ranch I'd Have This Sweet Malm Firedrum In Here In A Hot Minute. Alas, One Can Only Have So Many Fireplaces In One's Abode. Status: Already Spoken For!
I just got this in and cleaned up...and Oh Boy is it pretty! It was a mess when I picked it up but I spent a couple hours cleaning it and setting it up at the shop (Fleur De Lis - Home Source, that is) this late evening to be sure it was ready to be gawked at this weekend by anybody who happens by.

Sometimes You See Something Kinda Crazy And You're Like WTF?, But You Just Can't Leave It Behind. I Was Told This Is A Heat Lamp...But I Don't Know. Status: Quackery?
You see, here's the thing...that black disc inside the wire caging, it feels like a sanding disc. Why would there be a sanding disc on the head of a heat lamp? Hmmmm...sounds like Quackery to me!

Dropped By The St. Charles Goodwill And Got "Served" Up This Beautiful Corning Buffet Skillet / Server. Status: Added To The Collection!
I found this amazing Corning Ware serving piece over the weekend while out at the thrifts. I love this line. It's just so sleek and sublime...especially considering they were introduced in the mid '60s. Before doing any research I would have though these were a product of the 1980s. Not to say the '80s were sleek and sublime but the decade did have it's moments.

Over The Weekend I Was Lucky Enough To Be Able To Procure Another Set Of West Elm Jacobsen Series 7 Reproductions. I'm Pretty Happy 'Bout That Cuz The Last Set Garnered So Much Interest And Moved Quick. Status: Deja Vu.
Lucky me! Another set of West Elm bentwood dining chairs. I found these Sunday afternoon after a little morning craigslist fail. Seems that there are actually some sofas that are too large to fit into the back of Frank. But we turned that frown upside down this morning and I'll share that story with you later.

Good Morning All. Sorry This Is A Little Late...Had Some Trouble Uploading The Photos Of This Lovely Carlo Parisi Painting That I Found At The Goodwill Sunday. Status: Wanting For A Nicer Frame / Mat.
Yeah, I couldn't get these photos to upload last night at all. Flickr's newer uploader kept failing to "publish" so this morning I got the bright idea to try the "old" uploader and it worked just fine. Anywayz, I think this is an original painting but I'm not 100% sure.

Had To "Man" The Shop Today While Mom Ran Around Town With The Sis And Aunt. Got A Start On A Project While There That I'll Soon Be Able To Share, But For Now Let's Take A Look At Mom-Tomic's Offerings! Status: Pretty Pretty.
"Well, Hi There! C'mon In!" We had lots of visitors this fine Saturday afternoon. Didn't sell anything but it's nice that we are getting that walk in traffic and people seem to like the shop. But of course! How could they not?

I Made What Is Fast Becoming My "Weekly Visit" To Check My Booth At The Green Shag Market Today. I Dropped Off the Stakmore Dining Set If Anybody Is Interested! Status: Spring Forward Weekend!
Yep, I dropped off the Stakmore folding dining set at The Green Shag Market today. If you're interested, better make haste...dining stuff seems to be going fast lately. All the Brasilia chairs got snatched as did the West Elm Jacobsen repros.

I Know I've Shown You The Gondola Sofa In The Living Room Before, But I've Made A Little Change. An Upgrade If You Will. Different Cushions And A Pop Of Color! Status: Renewed.
You might remember this sofa from a post I did a couple of years ago. It looked a little different. It's cushions weren't very pretty and I had them disguised rather cleverly with a heavy cheetah print sheet that acted as a slip cover. But it just was never gonna be a permanent solution.

OK, I've Seen Some Pretty Cool Folding Chairs In My Day But This Set Might Be The Coolest...So Far. Even The Stenciled Label On The Bottom Is Awesome! Status: Available NOW At The Green Shag!
After dropping by the thrift store Saturday, but before stopping at I Love Mr. Sushi for dinner, I managed to grab up this fine walnut folding chair and table set and stuff it into the back of Frank. It was after dark so I wasn't able to shoot it just yet and had to wait until we got to the shop (Fleur De Lis - Home Source) on Sunday.

Wow, Mr. Modtomic Has Gone Through A Real Dry Spell Where Acquiring Great Vintage Modern Art Is Concerned! Finding A Nice Piece Over The Weekend Was A Welcome Break. Status: At The Shop.
Two things you can discern from the above photo. First, this artist was Not afraid of color, oh no! Second, real paint...not a print! Sweet! An original.

Too Much Of A Good Thing. It Don't Happen All That Often But I Had To Leave Behind A Stunning Scandinavian Dining Table And Chairs Today. Status: Available.
The Girlfriend and I dropped by the family shop - Fleur De Lis Home Source - this afternoon to relieve my Mom, hang out for a while and drop off / tag up some more smalls. After closing up, naturally we headed out to the local thrifts. Just a short drive away we found this lovely Benny Linden dining set, but I've already got two others!
