Back To The Good Stuff! Mod Patio Seating At The Bungalow. Status: Unidentified.
I snatched this set up off Craigslist a few years ago and still don't really know who manufactured it, or if it's by any particular designer. Not that it matters...it's just so cool either way!

Sorry Folks...No Cool Furnitures, Dinnerware Or Clocks Today. Status: Reality...Responsibilties...Stuff.
Yep...nuthin' but good times and fun 'round here. HAD to fix (fill cracks and seal) my driveway and fix my fence...and it's taken (taking really) way longer and much more of my energy than I thought.

Googie Kitchy Goodness Found At Random Hotel Furniture Liquidation Company. Status: Dumb Luck!
So anybody need a cool retro Boomerang Formica kitchen table? It's not quite a dining table as it's kinda smallish and can't be expanded with leaves or anything. It would look great in a vintage modern kitchen though! Could it be the greatest place ever to eat your morning danish or bagel, drink your cup-o-joe and read that morning paper...or twitter or whatever? Yes.

I Spotted A Rather Poorly Worded Ad On Craigslist About An Estate Sale Sunday. Tried To Find It Since It Was Supposed To Be Close By. Status: Fail / Win!
I copy and pasted the address (but added "St. Louis Mo.") provided in the ad to Google search. It came up with a map showing a place nowhere near where the ad said it should be. I tried again without the "St. Louis Mo." and it came up with a map a little closer to what would make sense. And with that, we were out the door on a little mini adventure!

Got The Big Shoe Horn Out And Pried The Brasilia Score Out Of The Back (And Front Seat!) Of Frank Jr. Status: Stashed In The Garage.
That's a lotta table and chairs! I already had three and added 6 more. Can you believe I got all this (well, less the three extra chairs) and the giant buffet in one trip? Frank Jr. the Focus wagon is AWESOME!!!

What's In The Back Of Frank Jr.? Why That Looks Like...Could It Be? More Broyhill Brasilia? Status: Really? REALLY???
I just (I mean JUST) passed the Brasilia Bedroom set to a new owner on Friday morning creating a little room in the garage. I was just kidding yesterday when I said I needed to fill it back up, but then this afternoon I was poking around lazily on craigslist.

Just Some Random STUFF. Nothing Enough For A Full Posting On It's Own. Status: All Over The Place.
Remember these chairs? I never did show how completely they break down. The seat and the back are attached via just two screws then three on each arm / leg assembly hold the rest together. So...there ya go. There it is...all taken apart. See. I know...crazy huh.

I Know...Summer Is....OVER. The Temps Have Plumetted And The Days Grow Short. So Lets Have Some Lemonade! Status: Wanting For An Endless Summer.
Sigh, I never got around to having that epic backyard bar-b-que that I had planned all summer long. Oh, I got out there and grilled burgers, brats and steaks once in a while but I never planned far enough ahead to actually have a party. And now...summer is gone. And true to St. Louis weather, the temp has snapped from triple digits to "should we turn the heat on?" We seem to only get about two weeks of Spring and two of Fall and it's not necessarily all together.

The Real Score Last Weekend Was A Big Ol' Pile Of Fred Press Fishes Glassware. Status: Sweet.
Can you believe all this Fred Press glassware was still available at the Saturday estate sale deep into the afternoon? Can you believe I almost didn't even notice it sitting right next to the door I entered through? I wasn't even half asleep or focusing what few brain cells would be awake at an early morning sale stake out on some other item. I guess I'm just lucky sometimes!

Kinda Lacey And Pretty...For An Atomic Bomb Blast Lamp. Status: Light And Bright
I picked this lamp up at the St. Charles Antique mall this summer in hopes that the shade might work with the rescued rocket lamp that I got in Kentucky. I have a hard time imagining the "end product" of a lot of things like painting a dresser or putting this shade on that lamp. I've always seen myself as creative, but I guess in a more hands on mechanical sort of way. Give me a bunch of stuff right in front of me and I can maybe combine it into something neat but separate those items into different stores and I have a hard time seeing them all together.

Yeah Yeah Yeah...More Barware...Get Used To It Buddy! Status: I Swear I'm Not A Lush.
After arriving late to that estate sale Saturday (thanks again Nick) up near my house we found most of the large items gone but there were lots of cool smalls everywhere. It was kinda overwhelming. There was a lot to look through. It was a privately (likely family) run and run well but there was just too much stuff to go through and organize.

The Other Big "E" Levi's Jackets. This Time The Type Three Trucker Jackets. Status: Found That Vintage Denim ID Website!
I posted last week about my Type 2 Levi's jacket and made mention that I also have a couple of vintage Type 3s. The Type 3s are the Levi's jackets most people are familiar with. It's the style most of us wore in high school.

Estate Sale Basement Junk And Hardware Store Stuff. Status: Random Enough For Ya?
I wasn't planning on hitting any estate sales this weekend...at least until Nick asked me if I was hitting the one near my home. Dammit. Way to twist my arm. We went late just to scrounge through the leftovers and see if there were any goodies left in the basement.

...And Now For Something Completely Different. Barkcloth - It Ain't Just For Drapery Anymore! Status: Sartorialy Inclined?
I've resisted as long as I can but I've got lots of vintage clothing. It's gonna make it's way here from time to time. I was gonna model this for ya but for realz...that's not something that anybody should have to see on the internet. At the beach? Watch out! I'll be struttin' and posing proud! Yeah, I'm kind-of-a-freak.

More Unfinished Projects More Heywood Wakefield. Status: It's....Coming Along.
As you can see this isn't a pristine example of an m335g coffee table. It also probably won't be a 100 point restoration when I'm done either. Sometimes you just have to do your best and live with the results. At least I won't be messing up an otherwise beautiful table. This was a mess to begin with!

Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Program: More Hey/Wake. M 308 G Step End Table. Status: Finish Not Original.
This is a craigslist score from a few years ago. It was snatched up for the tiny sum of $35. It has, unfortunately, been refinished but at least it was done well if not accurately. It does look good and if you're not a freak for originality (is that even the right word?) there's nothing to even fret over.

Breaking News...This Just In...Picked Up A Pair Of Danish Style Armchairs Tonight After Work! Status: Score.
I spotted an ad on Craigslist last night about this time for a bunch of random chairs. I noticed what looked like a pair of Danish Style Armchairs in the back corner of the thumbnail so I moused over it to enlarge and yup, a matched pair of lounge chairs. Upon clicking through to the ad I found that they were priced ridiculously cheap so I shot an e-mail off with a slightly better offer hoping to be able to grab them up before work.

Simple, Elegant, Vintage, Beautiful. The First Four Word That Come To My Mind When Describing This Heywood Wakefield M-304-G Step End Table. Status: Looking For A Match...STILL!!!
I found this Hey / Wake end table a few years ago at the St. Charles Antique Mall for stupid cheap. I love it to death and have been trying to find it's mate (I'm a freak and have to have two) ever since.

Something's A Little Fishy 'Round Here And I Don't Just Mean The Art. Status: Pickin's Getting Slim.
I know that yesterday's post perhaps made it look like there is a serious wealth of vintage modern goodies to be had 'round these parts...and it used to be so, but we hit like 10 thrift stores Saturday. The items shown yesterday were pretty much all we ran across worth posting about. Seems like the well is going dry!

Tools Of The Trade. Well...Not Really But It Is A Neat Paper Towel Dispenser! Status: '50s Kitsch
I've had this for a long time. I need to clean it up a little more but it's in excellent condition. I'd love to reproduce the original script detailing each compartment some day. Not sure how to do that though.

Did A Little Thrift Hunting This Morning Before Work. Didn't Buy Much But Shot Some Pics. Status: No Haul To Speak Of.
Yeah, I had to get my thrift on this morning before work. It was such a nice day I decided to get ready a little early and get out the door. There are a couple thrifts (Value Village and Goodwill) just about a mile from home and both in the same strip mall. Convenience!

OMG...IKR! Baughman Recliner, Baughman Recliner...Don't I Ever Think About Anything Else? Status: Finally Done....(For Now!)
I got it all put back together and I just had to show it off. If you're sick to death of seeing the Baughman, I feel ya and I promise not to post about it again any time soon. I can't imagine what else I'd post about it. It does need a little structure tweek but that is a long long way down the road. It would mean stripping ALL the upholstery off.

Lovin' Me Some Vintage Barware Lately. Can One Ever Have Too Much Barware? Yes. Status: Bursting At The Seams!
Perhaps I do have more vintage barware than I could ever need...I don't care! I want it all! OK, not all...but lots and lots of the coolest stuff anyway. Luckily I have a large knotty pine bookcase to keep all these amazing pieces in. But it does get crowded.

Beautiful Weather + Monday Off = Refinish Baughman Base! Status: So Much Nicer.
I took the opportunity of a day off and perfect weather to knock the old finish off the Milo Baughman Recliner base today. Of course I couldn't spend all day messing with goofy stuff like furniture refinishing...the Girlfriend and I went and played a couple eighteen holes of mini-golf! We tied!

Nope. Didn't Finish That Table From Yesterday. Lazy. Here's Some Pics From The Goodwill Yesterday Instead. Status: Lazy.
Yeah, I didn't get much of anything done today. We went to the Girlfriend's mom's for dinner and then to the Skyview Drive-In to watch a couple of summer hit re-runs: Cars 2 and Kung Fu Panda 2. So much fun and such good movies.

Another Project Started...Another Project Unfinished! The Wroughtan Side Table Project. It Was Just TOO Hot Today. 100 Plus. Status: Maybe Tomorrow?
It was already sanded down. I just had to remove the rattan lower tier and break out the rattle cans. I was hoping to have this done today but we had a crazy day of record heat followed by a little rain and a quick cool down this evening.

While Mr. Modtomic Is By No Means A Fashionista, I Do Have My Moments. REAL Vintage LEVI'S Type II Jacket Anyone? Status: Thrift Mega Score.
This is quite likely the best thrift score I've ever made. It's also the ONLY real vintage Levi's score I've ever made, and buddy...I've spent some serious time scrounging through the denim. Never found a single pair of "big E" 501s. Not even a pair of selveged 501s. But this jacket made up for all that wasted time.

Gosh, that's a lot of Salt And Pepper Shakers! The Girlfriend is threatening to turn into me with the "too many toasters, irons, chairs, mixers, sofas, and so on", but with Salt And Pepper Shakers. But they are pretty cool, huh.
