Dang, It's Been A Long Time Since I've Found Some Cool Art. Kinda Makes Me Wanna Keep It! Le Creuset Cookware...Great Color And Great Cookware, But I Don't Really Cook. It'll Be Easier To Let Go. Status: Booth Fodder.
It's looking like an Orangey Orange weekend here at the Modtomic Ranch! Picked up a great Le Creuset sauce pan a couple days ago and just got the tall Sunset screenprint piece today.

I Like Ben. I Like Hot Chocolate. Put The Two Together On A Snowy Winter Day And I'm A Pretty Happy Guy. Throw In A Great Thrift Store Find For Good Measure And It's A Really Good Day! Status: Still...Headed To The Booth.
Don't ya just love it when you find something good AND "signed" at the thrift? Yeah, I know...they're not really signed but it's a lot closer than just a blank bottom! And I got a LOT of 'em!

Even Though I've Been Feeling Under The Weather For The Last Couple Of Days Or So, I Still Managed To Procure A Nice Set Of Mies Van Der Rohe "BRNO" Chairs Last Sunday Evening. Status: Paired!
Sadly, no tags. Probably not Knoll since the seller...well, said they weren't. Still, they got style for miles and they'll go nicely with the chrome base table I featured a few days ago. I've still got to fix up the top of that table though, so it'll be a while.

A Gift Horse Would Have To Be One Uuuugly Steed For This Guy To Look Him In The Mouth. A Friend Offered This Hot Mess To Me For The Low Low Price Of Nuthin' And In The Back Of Frank It Went! Status: Now What?
Right, so what do I need with another Eames lounger knockoff project? I don't. But alas, I just couldn't say "No"! Surely I can find something to do with this mess of a lounge chair.

A Little Trip To The Salvation Army Thrift Store Yesterday Turned Out To Be Quite Fruitful. I FINALLY Found A Stand For The Little Christmas Tree And A Cool 1960s Decor Book. Status: Keeping The Book.
I love finding these vintage decor books. They seem so few and far between. And a tree stand for the metal Christmas tree stand? Don't get me started how hard I searched for That!

You Know I Don't Really Mess With Fiestaware Too Much. I Certainly Don't Collect It. It's Just Too Hard To Keep In Mind Which Pieces Are New And Which Are Vintage. Still, When I Find It And I've Got The Time To Look It Up... Status: Picked.
I've got a book on all this stuff in my booth (well, I think it's still in there), but maybe I need to pull it out and keep in my "library" since figuring out whether this stuff is vintage or not is kind of a pain. I'm like 90% sure this is Very vintage, like 1930's vintage, but since Fiesta kept messing with the marks and all, it's still hard to pin down.

Sorry 'Bout Not Getting This Out Earlier. Kinda Felt Ill Last Night. But At Least I Do Have Something Cool For Ya! Status: Modified Brasilia.
No no, this King Size Brasilia Bookcase headboard isn't the said "Modified Brasilia"...I don't want to shock any delicate sensibilities so you'll have to click through to peruse THAT! Reader Jeff from KC was kind enough to share some photos of his personal Brasilia collection, one piece of which has been cleverly repurposed.

Some Nifty Finds From Recent Times As Well As Earlier This Summer. A Couple Salem Biscayne Pitchers And A Mexican Handmade Bird. Status: Mystery.
I forgot all about the mixed metal bird art. I picked up the larger Biscayne gravy pitcher a few days ago and the smaller cream pitcher has been hanging around here for a while. Time I blogged about 'em all, wouldn't you say?

I Picked Up Another Danish Modern Three Light Pendant Monday Before Work. It Was A Late Night Craigslist Find That I Should Have Found And Snatched Saturday. Status: All's Well That End Well.
This fixture is another one of those killer items that got overlooked by everybody on craigslist...
including me! I had been listed early Saturday afternoon and I didn't spot it until late Sunday evening. I hate it when that happens.

Nice barware scores, right? I just got the Dorothy Thorpe style silver rim flutes today. The Ruby Red chalices were a weekend find that I'm just now getting around to unwrapping.

Guess Who's Got Wood? This Guy! That is...I Got A Wood Butcher Block By Boos And A Vintage Wood Coca Cola Crate Too. Just A Couple Of Wooden Items I Found At The Thrifts This Weekend. Status: For The Booth.
You know those carts the Goodwill rolls out hoping the hoarders (you know 'em, they're the ones who grab a cart as soon as they walk in the front door) clean off so they won't have to find a place on the shelves for the stuff. That's were I found both of these items! But relax, I didn't fill up a cart...or block all the aisles with it either.

Christ...My Booth Is Starting To Be Better Appointed Than HOME! Well, Not Really...But It's Getting There. Today We Dropped In A Lovely Chesterfield Sofa! Status: Available...Now!
Dang, I almost wish OUR living room looked this good. Cohesive...maybe that's the word. That walnut Drexel Declaration coffee table, a comfy leather Westnofa lounge chair and now, the classic Chesterfield sofa. Get that Burke dining set out of there and that could be any of our living rooms I'd say.

Along With The Laurel Lamp I Picked Up Yesterday Before Work I Snatched A Matched Pair Of Lovely Little Marble Base Table Lamps. Same Seller. Status: Hoping For Matched Shades.
I'm such a sucker for matched pairs of stuff, like nightstands....and well, lamps. The problem with lamps is finding matched shades for them since most of the time, when you find a lamp or lamps, the shades are toast. This pair came with shades but they were miss-matched. So I'll be on the lookout.

I Found This Little Gem Of A Laurel Floor Lamp On Craigslist Yesterday Morning. It Was Such A Bargain That I Really Wanted To Nab It That Morning But The Timing Was Off. Had To Wait Until Today. Status: Nabbed!
Aside from the shade...Ain't this a lovely vintage modern Laurel floor lamp? Alas, the shade came with it. Sorta Antiquey right? Not really our thing...but you don't throw the baby out with the bath water, do you?!

A Few Weeks Ago The Girlfriend, Some Other Friends And I Went To The Theater To See Ender's Game. Yeah, I Read The Book (The Girlfreind Made Me A While Back) But I'm Cool With It Being Different. Status: Can't Wait For The DVD.
I Love big block buster movies! Yeah, there's a lot of haters out there who quote all differences but c'mon... Truth is, I didn't exactly memorize the book, so I don't even know what they are going on about. I just thought it was a freakin' cool flick! But what was even cooler...

After Picking Up The Cool Lounge Chair Sunday I Tooled Over To The Goodwill In West County And Found This Halliburtan Aluminum Case And Vintage Decorative Grapes! Status: Strange Smalls.

Once Again, I'm At A Loss. Can Anybody Help A Mr. Identify This Fantastic Bentwood Scandivian Lounge Chair? It's Got Westy Dripping From It's Walnut Frame But No Tags Or Marks. Status: Available And Needing A Name.
I'm pretty sure I just barely beat another potential buyer to the draw on this killer bentwood danish lounge chair Sunday afternoon. I stopped by the Goodwill near downtown and while giving this a once over another couple seemed to be skulking about behind me like a couple of vultures.

I'm FINALLY Taking (More) Advantage Of The "Airspace" Above My Booth. Today I Found An Effective Way To Hang This Trio Of Danish Modern Dining Chairs From The Rafters. Status: More To Come!
See! Necessity IS the mother of invention! No more room on the floor of your booth? Go up! I'm way behind the curve on this though. So many of the other vendors have already done this...and done it well. Well, I'm playing catch up now.

What Is It With Cats Trying To Eat Silver Christmas Trees?! McDuff The Fluff Just Couldn't Stop Himself From Trying To Take Bite Out Of This Small Tower Of Christmas Cheer! Status: Un-Chewed
I picked up this beautiful and (nearly) complete vintage silver christmas tree from a vendor at the Belleville Flea earlier this summer. It seemed silly to pull it out and show it off in the middle of July but tonight looks like our first evening at or below freezing, so now might be a little more appropriate.

Fall Is Definitely Upon Us! Don't Ya Love The Colors? I Felt Remiss Having Shot This Table Base Yesterday Without Getting Any Pics Of It With A Proper Top. Status: Redeemed.
We got a short dry spell this morning before I had to head into work so I dragged the new chrome table base outside and pulled this equally heavy (well, almost) table top out of the garage to show how nice a dining table the pair are gonna make. This is gonna be stunning when the top gets refinished!

Today I Picked Up A Great Table Base That I Initially Thought / Hoped Was A Florence Knoll Design...But Alas, Close But No Cigar. Still, It Was Attractive Enough To Bring Home. Status: Gone Topless.
I spotted this on craigslist last night, but you know how crappy craigslist photos can fool ya...especially when you are really trying to be fooled. Oh how I wanted this to be a Knoll table base. The seller insisted that it is a Herman Miller base, but I find this attribution dubious.

Where Are They Now? Some Of The Lighting That Has Been On The Blog Before Never Made It Back Out Of The House. We Call These Keepers. Wanna See What They's Up To? Status: In Situ.
When last we saw this lamp I had just brought it home from the flea market and I didn't have a bulb for it. I actually took the lamp with me to the hardware store to make sure I got the correct socket size...it was a weird one that I hadn't seen before. Well, it kinda pokes out but I think it's supposed to!

As Promised, Here's The Before And After Of The Drexel Declaration Coffee And End Table. They Got The Howard's Restore-A-Finish Treatment Today. Status: Ready For The Booth.
I still didn't have enough time to a really good job but I did get a chance to clean up the tops of these tables this afternoon. They came out pretty nice. Not perfect but better still. I used Howard's Walnut Restore-A-Finish and some 0000 steel wool and it really brought out the lovely color.

Four Words Best Describe This Morning's Before Work Adventures: Estate Fail Craigs Score! The Estate Fail Wasn't THAT Disappointing And The Craigs Score Was Just Enough To Make Up For It. Status: Even Steven
I still use my old smart phones for various duties including music player at work and WiFi mobile web browser at home. What the one at home gets used as the most is a lowly alarm clock. That was all it had to do this morning...wake me at 9:45am. Apparently it decided to "fall back" all by itself a couple days early!

Ahhh...Remember VCRs? You Could Set Them To Record Your Favorite Show And Watch It Later. Tried To Hook One Up To Your New Flat TV And Record A Program? Good Luck. Not With DTV. Status: Next Gen. Goodwill Score!
While digging around the wares at a South County Goodwill I found this Magnavox Digital Video Recorder / DVD player - recorder...with a built in DTV tuner! This means that I can finally record Antenna TV again! And so much more.
