Another Warren C. Church / Lane Perception End Table. This One Though, Is Available! It's In Excellent Condtion And Is Headed For The Shop. Status: Langiappes!
So the story is, I needed the Lane Perception end table behind this one but since there were two available...and they were both in such great condition, I couldn't just leave this one behind! But...neither do I actually need it. So it's headed to Fleur De Lis - Home Source in Frenchtown Old St. Charles.
As vintage Lane products go the Perception line is, in my humble opinion, the most lovely and interesting.
There's that contrast between the sort of "old world" basket weave drawer fascia and the elegant
swoopy legs that allow the body of the table and drawer appear to float. This combination allows the
line to fit with so many styles of other furnishings. It wouldn't seem out of place in a home full of
Pearsall / Craft Associates or in a crib filled with contemporary overstuffed sofas and chairs.
Mmmmm...look how pretty. This is what these lane tables are supposed to look like. I cringe when I
see a Lane table that incorporates two species of wood on the top that has been refinished and the edges
are now super bright. All the subtlety is lost. No loss of subtlety on this baby!
I don't know if this table has had any attention lavished upon it but it almost seems impossible that it
hasn't! It's just in such great shape. Given that Lane was what I consider mid level furniture (not high
end, but not low brow either), these usually get ridden hard and put away wet. Sad, really...since they
are really built to last and last.
There are a couple of small dings on the top. As you can see from the photo of the entire top, the couple
of dings are very hard to pick out. I put a penny next to the three that are there to help show the size and
make them easier to find. Compared to most Lane tables that sport water rings and loss of finish, these
are easy to overlook. If you'd like to see for yourself, this baby will soon be at the shop in St. Chuck so
drop by and say "Hi!" to Mom-tomic! Oh, and if you're in the market...I just dropped off three Herman
Miller Shell Chairs in booth #5 at The Green Shag Market.

Just saw a three piece set of these at our local ReStore today. About 250 for the coffee table and the two end tables (same as your set) but in pretty rough condition. They drop the prices there incrementally, so I'll keep an eye on it and see if it gets picked up. If it drops enough that I am willing to invest the time and energy in refinishing I might pick it up. It's a beautiful style. love the swoop frame and the basketweave.
