I Don't Normally Shop The Habitat For Humanity ReStore For Furniture...But If It's There! Status: Lucky Find.

DSCN0094

It's a Heritage Henredon and it needs some love.  The name Heritage Henerdon doesn't really scream "Vintage Modern" but the table itself does!  But of course Henredon does build some quality furniture.  It's got good bones...just needs to be cleaned up a bit.

DSCN0088I wasn't shopping for anything like this

at the ReStore.  I was actually just

hoping to find some lumber to build some

shelves for my antique mall space at

the Green Shag Antique Mall.  That

took a fortuitous turn as you may have

seen yesterday and also netted this little

gem!  As soon as I "claimed" this little

side table another shopper started

eyeballing it on our cart and lots of other

stopped short to compliment my score.

It's good to have excellent timing!  But,

even though it was a bargain there will

DSCN0091be some time and energy spent on it to

get it looking it's best.  It will have to wait

for that time and energy as the Modtomic

crew hits the road for Summer Roadtrip

this coming weekend.  But it's OK, I've

got all summer for these little projects!

DSCN0092I'm not sure what the purpose of this

table is.  Surely there was a more

appropriate purpose but a small receiver

would fit on the lower level and a turntable

would easily fit on top!  One could even

put a TV on top and a couple of electronic

items on the lower level; DVD, Blueray,
DSCN0089
Atari, Tivo.  Anyway, after I get her prettied

up for the dance I will be making this

available.  And remember, almost anything

I have available on my craigslist ads can

be had at the Green Shag Antique Mall

if picking it up there would be more

convenient.  Just give me at least a day's

notice and I'll drop it off!

  1. Yup, Definetely needs some TLC but I'm sure it will be worth the effort! Heredon surely makes quality furniture and this does have some nice lines.

    1. Hi A Mod. It won't look nearly as nice as if I could have YOU knock it out, but it'll look better than it does now and it'll still have some age to it lending the table some authenticity...or so I will keep telling myself since I'll never have the patience you have!

  2. Love your blog!

Funny thing is, my fiance and I just picked up two Henredon arm chairs at the Salvation Army this week. I'd never heard of them before as I'm just starting to get into mid century furniture, but I was so impressed with the quality and cleanliness of them, I knew I had to have them. Plus, $10 each? How could I walk away from that?

    1. Hi HG Susie. Intriguing handle ya got there! Probably doesn't mean what first comes (to a guy's) mind. I'm also intrigued with the Henredon arm chairs. What do they look like? You got a link to a pic of them? $10 sounds like a steal!

    2. I don't have a camera right now, but they're similar in shape to this one listed on this website: http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/8053306

...but with a gold brocade upholstery and no wheels on the front.

And yes, the the handle does mean what it suggests. My love of pin-up is what led me to exploring the world of mid century modern :)

  3. Thanks for inspiring me to add the ReStores to my list of thrift places to check out when I'm on my Retro Roadmap Roadtrips. And speaking of Retro Roadtrips, if you're anywhere near Philly drop us a line!

    1. Hi Mod Betty. I have to remind myself to drop by the ReStore once in a while! It's not quite as easy to remember as the regular thrifts for some reason.

I'm gonna try to get off my lazy duff and submit some more stuff for your Retro Roadmap soon!
